Lamar County Citizens for Public Education

Lamar County School District was proud to host Dr. Carey Wright, MDE superintendent, at Oak Grove High School today. Dr. Wright congratulated the district’s administration, teachers, and students on their outstanding success and continued A rating.

This group of Lamar County educators who call themselves the BLUE team are meeting with government officials to speak out about the problems of education that they see everyday in their classrooms as well as to learn about education policy and funding. Last night, they met with Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves. The meeting was informative for both sides.

The accountability results are considered unofficial until the State Board of Education votes Thursday, but the embargo is only until 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2019. For the third consecutive year, the LCSD has earned the rating of A according to the accountability system for the state of Mississippi. Using this system we are currently ranked as the 9th school district in the state. Congratulations to staff, students and parents!

We Need To Stop Talking About The Teacher Shortage Fewer students in teacher prep programs. Thousands of unfilled vacancies in state after state. But we need to stop calling it a teacher shortage.
