Last night may have been a scrimmage, but what actually happened at Sacred Heart Athletic Complex was about so much more than football. Our Crusaders took the field for the first time this season under Head Coach Dewease, alongside Coach Isaiah and Coach Biff. The cheerleaders were cheering from the student section. Parents filled the stands. Water girls were on the sidelines. Alumni came back to stand alongside the team. Dinner was provided for everyone there.

For a few hours, it felt less like a football scrimmage and more like a family gathering. And maybe that’s exactly what it was. But the most meaningful moment came after the final whistle. Players, coaches, parents, families, and friends made their way to the center of the field. Coach Dewease spoke about how thankful he was for these young men and for the parents and families who stand behind them.

Then came a surprise. Each player had written a thank you card to his parents. The coaches and Mrs. Wiest handed those cards out along with decals for the players’ helmets. Coach Dewease asked each player to have his family help him place the decals on his helmet. A simple gesture, but a powerful message.

Because before that helmet represents a player, a number, a position, or a team, there is a family behind the young man wearing it. There are parents who have driven to practices, washed uniforms, rearranged schedules, sat through heat and rain, celebrated victories, encouraged through disappointments, and prayed countless prayers along the way. Last night, our players got to say thank you.

Of course we want to win football games. We want successful seasons, playoff runs, and championships. But if that were all we were building, we would be missing the most important part. We are building young men. We are building gratitude. Respect. Brotherhood. Faith. Responsibility. Friendships. Memories. We are teaching these athletes to recognize the people who helped them get where they are and to understand that they never walk onto that field alone.

Years from now, the scores will fade. The wins and losses will blur together, but the lessons learned beside teammates, the coaches who invested in them, the friendships formed, the prayers shared, and the families standing beside them will remain.

This is how you grow a team. This is how you build something bigger than a season. At Sacred Heart, our athletes are so much more than athletes. They are young people entrusted to us for a short time, and our prayer is that when they leave us, they carry with them lessons that will serve them long after they take off a Crusader uniform for the final time.

Last night we saw that there is something special being built within this football program…and the season is only beginning. πŸ’™πŸ€πŸˆ

Faith. Respect. Honor. It is the Sacred Heart Way!

πŸ™πŸ’™ What an amazing turnout we had this morning as our Sacred Heart family gathered in the High School Chapel to pray the Rosary together. Each Friday morning at 7:30 AM, students, faculty, staff, and members of our Sacred Heart community are invited to come together in prayer, led by Mr. Frank Baugh.

There is something incredibly special about beginning the day together in the quiet of the chapel, placing our intentions before our Blessed Mother and asking her to lead us closer to her Son. ✝️ We would love to see this beautiful Friday morning tradition continue to grow. Join us next Friday at 7:30 AM. Everyone is welcome! πŸ“ΏπŸ’™

βœοΈπŸ’™ What a beautiful Mass at our High School yesterday. There is something especially meaningful about seeing our students share their God-given gifts in service to our school and our faith. Senior Mary Anna Jones beautifully led us in song while senior Anna Leigh Schmidt accompanied on piano, helping make our celebration of the Mass even more special. 🎢

We are so proud of these young women for using their talents to glorify God and enrich the faith life of our Sacred Heart family.

πŸ’™ Our PreK3 students are already settling into their school routines and experiencing all the fun that comes with being a Sacred Heart student! These photos caught them heading to Computer, one of the six special classes they enjoy each week. πŸ’»

Even at just three years old, our students have opportunities to explore Computer, Music, Art, P.E., Spanish, and Library throughout their week. πŸŽ¨πŸŽΆπŸ“šπŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ

These special classes give our youngest learners the chance to discover new interests, build confidence, develop new skills, and learn from even more members of their Sacred Heart family. They may be little, but their school days are already full of BIG learning! πŸ’™πŸ€
