The spring semester is wrapping up here in the Burg and the CPGSO thought the best way to celebrate is with a Pizza Party Fundraiser! Pyro’s Pizza has graciously partnered up with us and agreed to share 15% of their food sales on Thursday May 12th, from 5:00-8:00pm. Funds will help us to continue to support mental health services for clients at USM’s Center for Behavioral Health.

But we have a favor to ask! We need at least 20 RSVP’s for Pyro’s to host the event. So, please RSVP here, if you can: https://www.groupraise.com/events/226429.

Our Annual Eagle Fever Fundraiser is underway! The Clinical Psychology Graduate Student Organization (CPGSO) believes USM is a campus of good neighbors. Whether you're living in a dorm on Golden Eagle Dr., in downtown Hattiesburg, or representing Southern Miss across the country, you are connected in our USM community web, and we need your help!

Thank you so much to the neighbors who have donated so far! We've raised $200 which is almost a quarter of the way to our goal of $1000! Even small donations can make a big difference. Even $5 can help fund one therapy session for a client. If you're interested and able to help a neighbor, please visit the donation site:

If you are currently in the National Guard, you may be eligible to participate in the USM IBM Study and earn up to $225!

Participating in this study takes approximately 5 hours, spread out over 3 months. In three sessions, participants are asked to fill out a few online surveys, engage in a few one-on-one interviews/discussions with a team member, and try out a smartphone app designed for National Guard Members. Participants leave each session with an Amazon gift card (totaling $225).

Halloween is almost here! And what better way to celebrate than with these two cute little pumpkins?

Another way to celebrate Halloween and feel good about yourself is to donate to our campaign. We are only about $200 away from our $1000 goal! Put a smile on someone's face like these good little pumpkins did for us! If you're interested and able to help a neighbor, please visit the donation site: https://eaglefever.usm.edu/USMgoodneighbors.

Thank you to these pumpkin kitties, Chicken and Alex (and their owners Katie and Cassidy) for sending in these cute pics!

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'” -Mr. Rogers

Despite an abundance of bad news and negativity in the world right now, The Clinical Psychology Graduate Student Organization (CPGSO) believes USM is a campus of good neighbors.

In 2014, CPGSO was founded by student clinicians who recognized that oftentimes clients of the USM Behavioral Health Clinic have to skip therapy sessions or discontinue needed services because of financial hardships.

Seeking mental health services requires an abundance of courage, and it is heartbreaking for someone to find that courage but not receive treatment because of financial hurdles. Since July 2018, the CPGSO has helped fund 125 therapy sessions, and we want to continue offering that support for those who can benefit from it.

So, we're asking our neighbors to help. Those seeking services at our clinic are people in your community - maybe someone you know or maybe a stranger you pass by everyday. Whether you're living in a dorm on Golden Eagle Dr., in downtown Hattiesburg, or representing Southern Miss across the country, you are connected in our USM community web, and we need your help.

We offer services for children, adolescents, and adults of the Hattiesburg community and USM students, faculty, and staff. Our services include individual, child, family, couples and group therapy, comprehensive diagnostic evaluations/ assessments, consultation in various areas, including school and Head Start consultation, parent training, and select pre-employment screenings/evaluations.

Our goal is to raise $1,000. If you are able to lend a helping hand, please consider donating at https://eaglefever.usm.edu/USMgoodneighbors. Individually, it may feel like we can't change the world or take on the financial responsibility of a neighbor, but together we can make that difference. Together, we can show the world why it's so special to be a Golden Eagle, and what it looks like when a community supports each other through the good times and the bad. Together, we are Southern Miss, a campus of good neighbors raising each other To The Top! Thank you!

Today we are SO excited to have a panel of very good experts to give their advice on human behavior during quarantine:

"Hey, this is Rizzo! Here are my colleagues, Louie and Sadie. We don't really know what this whole quarantine thing is but we certainly like that our humans are home all the time now. Their haircuts have gotten progressively worse, but we at least get bits of cheese from the one with the mullet... This quality time has been nice for our pack because, like dogs, humans are a social animal, too. Usually in an unsolicited manner, I hear Mitch talk about how their evolution involved having access to large social networks and plenty of friends, meaning it could be pretty sad, and even painful, to feel disconnected from others. This loneliness can actually make people try really hard to connect with people, so let's talk about ways our humans have been able to do that safely. Reach out to your friends on the phone or have a Zoom call. Watching your favorite show on Netflix may also satisfy this need to belong. Louie has been binging on pro wrestling (Chris Jericho's his favorite) and Sadie has her own theory on Carole Baskin (she's not a fan of the cats). Me? I just want a good belly rub."

Thank you so much Rizzo, Louie, Sadie, and human Mitch Brown!! Now get those experts some belly rubs!
