Big moment for the future of audiology 👏

Congratulations to Cat Burns, 4th-year USM AuD student and extern at Children’s National Hospital, for presenting her research last week at the LEND Conference.

The LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) program is a federally funded, interdisciplinary training program that prepares future leaders to serve children with developmental disabilities through collaboration, advocacy, and family-centered care.

Well done, Cat! We are proud of you for doing this important work and for representing USM so well!

Hearing is how we learn, connect, participate, and belong. From early childhood through adulthood, strong hearing supports language, literacy, safety, and relationships.

Protect it. Check it. Prioritize it.

Because hearing health shapes opportunity-in every community and every classroom.

Do you know someone who has been a warrior and survived breast cancer? If so, PLEASE share this opportunity with them!!

We are conducting a research study on hearing health (auditory and vestibular) in women who have had breast cancer. If you are a woman who has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has received treatment, you are eligible to participate.

Participation involves completing a brief, anonymous online questionnaire, which should take no longer than 15 minutes. Your responses will help inform new evidence on hearing and balance function in breast cancer survivors. Findings of this research may provide a foundation for integrating auditory and vestibular health into comprehensive survivorship care, addressing an overlooked aspect of post-treatment well-being.
Participation is completely voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time.

This project has been reviewed by USM’s Institutional Review Board (Protocol #26-153).
