Meet Shreecha Pokhrel, a returning International Student Ambassador from Nepal🩵 :

This summer, I’ve had the opportunity to work as an Acute Care Technician at Forrest General Hospital. In this role, I provide direct care to patients. As a tech, I take their vital signs, assist with mobility and repositioning, and help meet their daily needs.

Working alongside nurses has given me valuable experience and prepared me for nursing school. Each shift brings new opportunities to learn and grow. The most rewarding part of my job is the gratitude I receive from patients and their families.

Get ready for Independence Day celebrations!

The Hattiesburg side of this year’s Star-Spangled Celebration on the River is moving to The Commons at Gordon's Creek, 105 Hardy Street.

Join us Thursday, July 2, beginning at 6 p.m., for an evening of music, food, fireworks and neighbors as we celebrate America’s 250th year.

Because of the amount of rain our area has received, Chain Park is too wet to safely and comfortably host this year’s event. We know many families are used to celebrating at Chain Park, so we want to make sure everyone knows where to go this year.

All the things you’ve come to love about this celebration are staying the same. The music, food, kids zone and fireworks are still happening.

6 p.m. | 41st Army Band of the Mississippi National Guard
7:30 p.m. | Unfazed
9 p.m. | Fireworks

Food and drink vendors will be on site throughout the evening, along with a kids zone for families.

Please remember: no pets, glass, tents or personal fireworks.

Parking information and an event map will be shared soon.

Big news first… Serengeti Springs Waterpark is OPEN to everyone this weekend. ☀️💦
If you’ve been waiting for a not-so-crowded, perfect-weather moment… this is it. Grab tickets online, save a few bucks, rent a cabana, and enjoy it before the full summer rush hits.

Now… once you’ve dried off, come see us downtown. The weather is lining up just right for a wander through the alley.

We’ve refreshed the Tiniest Park in Mississippi (yes, it really is), and new outdoor exhibits are on the way over the next couple of weeks 👀

While you’re out, make it a full Sixth Street Museum District loop:
• Stop by Smith Drug Company for a classic malt
• Visit the Osceola McCarty Museum
• Explore the African American Military History Museum
(Both museums are free, just like us)

And if you need one more reason… the Hattiesburg Zoo has new baby spider monkeys and they are absolutely worth the visit 🐒

Perfect weather. Free fun. A little bit of everything.

We’ll see you in the alley.

P.S. If you’re looking for nighttime plans, jam band legends moe. are at the Saenger Theater tonight. Doors open at 7 and the show starts at 8.
