2023 Southern Miss Powwow
You can help support the 2023 Southern Miss Powwow by donating to this Eagle Fever Project TODAY!

Powwows are gatherings where Natives rekindle relationships with old friends and make new friends as they celebrate and educate about Native cultures. The beautiful regalia and fancy steps are part of the Plains culture but have spread all across Indian Country as youth and elders alike join together in the circle. Dancers come from all over the Southeast to be a part of our powwow, and numerous tribes are represented.

Hattiesburg is a hub city with Native tribes to our East - Poarch Band of Creek Indians, to our South - United Houma Nation and numerous others along the coast, to our West - Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana, Jena Band of Choctaw Indians, Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana, and to our North - Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. As we gather in the circle, we are reminded that we gather as all one people around this drum - our own heartbeat, to sing, to dance, to celebrate. And we want you to join us as we showcase these songs, these dances, our artisans, and their beautiful work. We want for you to learn of the Southeastern Native experience from these Southeastern Natives as we welcome you to our circle.

Every gift made will support the success of our 2023 Powwow. Please join us November 18th at the 2023 Southern Miss Powwow!
