Congratulations to USM’s Alpha Nu Gamma Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, whose Monthly Book Club was awarded the Regents' Common Reader Award, 2023. The chapter was recognized for its lively discussions and outreach in the support of reading and literary appreciation of Sigma Tau Delta’s 2023 Convention Common Reader: The Rock Eaters, by Brenda Peynado. An honorarium was also awarded to the chapter.

Recent English graduate and first-generation US citizen Abigail Jordon was chosen to participate in a highly competitive internship at Penguin Random House headquarters in New York City. This internship provides opportunities for racially/ethnically underrepresented groups in the publishing industry. Congratulations to Dr. Sherita Johnson and Dr. Cheryl Jenkins. This semester, they are teaching an Honors seminar titled "Lynching in Literature and the Press." This past week, their students were named the "Most Intellectually Stimulating" among the Honors College seminars this semester. Thank you to Drs.
