USM 2026 French in France Crew 🇫🇷
06/01/2026
Lunch today was a Galette at a little Crêpe salon, called Le Comptoir de Mamie Bigoude near the school. This French cuisine is similar to a Crêpe in that it is a flat pancake. However Galette's are typically made of buckwheat flour and contain a savory filling rather than the sweet filling you would find in a Crêpe. This one specifically consisted of fromage (cheese) and poulet (chicken) it was absolutely delicious!

Did you know? Almost everything is closed on Sunday's in France.
For the french, Sunday is considered a day of rest, meant to be spent with friends, family, or by one's self. This is because of the 1906, Loi Travail or Labour Code, which for today means strict regulations for work on Sunday's for any non-essential businesses. Almost all stores or other businesses are closed on this day with the exception of supermarkets, garden and food shops. So while you might be able to get a croissant today, you would have to wait til Monday to get that shirt you were looking at in the window.
