We are so proud of our 5th graders!! We wish them nothing but the best as they leave OGE. We will miss them so much, but we know that they are going to do great things in middle school!

Fueled purely by curiosity, 4th grader, Mark Langford, independently designed and built an incredibly detailed model of the Titanic at home—showcasing creativity, initiative, and a passion for learning beyond the classroom! Thanks for sharing with us Mark!

We had a great time at Bar T Aventures the last two days! Our 4th and 5th graders got to participate in team building exercises, zip lines and an obstacle course. Our 2nd and 3rd graders did the rock climbing wall, zip line, obstacle courses and team building activities. Students faced their fears and encouraged one another to try new things!

4th Grade Excel took a trip to Hub City Humane Socity today!!
Last semester, we raised funds for HCHS through a snowman fundraiser. Today, we were able to present them with a check! We took a tour of the facility and learned more about what they do. We got to see volunteers in action. We also got to see all of the precious animals currently housed there. We got to play with them and love on them.
It was amazing for our students to see all that they are doing at Hub City. Our students learned about different ways the community helHub City Humane Society are already brainstorming more ways thAshleigh Blackmonand raise donations!
Thank you so much to Hub City Humane SocietAmy MasseywSarah Chiasson Sayes!Ashley Ostavitz Blankkmon, a fellow EXCEL teacher, for working with us to organize this!

Camden Adam’s family visited our classroom today. Camden’s dad, Mike, is a pathologists’ physician assistant. Cam’s mom, Rebecca, is a histotechnologist. And Cam’s sister is a former EXCEL student. They brought tonsils, an appendix, cartilage from a knee, a twin placenta, and 14 week old twins conjoined at the stomach for students to observe. They also got to look through the microscope at slides of various tissue and fungus! Students got to ask questions and learn about what a patholoisht is and how to become one. Thank you so much for this learning opportunity!

4th graders dissected a sheep brain last week after taking a left brain right brain quiz. The students located the different parts of the brain up close! Some were bigger fans than others 🧠

Thank you so much Dr. Xuyang He and her team at USM’s Forensic Chemisty Program for coming to OGE today. They conducted a lab with 2nd-5th grade excol on 🧪Mixing Magic and Seperating Power 🧪 Students observed that water and oil don’t mix until lecithin shows up! They learned that science lets us move colors, mix liquids, and discover how the world works!

3rd graders created a water filtration system today. After unsuccessful attmepts, students brainstormed alternative ideas. We then learned about where our water comes from and how it is cleaned 💧
