Friday in Mrs, Monica and Mrs, Whitney’s 1st grade class, we started our day with a Monster friend losing a TOOTH! First one of the year on our tooth chart! Then we celebrated another Monster friend’s birthday! We spent the rest of our morning reviewing and assessing… and then after lunch we finally got to ALL the fun and games! We started out playing several of our new educational games: Hoot Owl Hoot, The Sneaky Snacky Squirrel, Marble Run, Brainometry, Zingo, and Spellagator!

Then we learned a new, fun way to practice math facts while building our math fluency- 99Math! Our monsters played three 90-second rounds where they earned 10 points per correctly solved math fact. At the end of each round, we were able to see our class accuracy and how many correct math problems we answered collectively. Each round also displayed the top 5 point leaders and the most improved students. Our Mighty Monsters were able to correctly solve 569 math facts in under 5 minutes today! Amazing!

Such a great Fun Friday in the Mighty Monster’s Room!

B is for BIG fun!

Ms. Hannah’s kindergarten class had a blast learning all about the letter Bb! From exploring with bubbles, to discovering how bees pollinate flowers, to blowing up balloons for a fun indoor recess, and even enjoying a special stuffed bear sleepover, our students found creative ways to learn through hands-on experiences. 💛

What a buzz-worthy, bubbly, balloon-filled, bear-sleepover kind of week!

Mrs. Thames and Mrs. Mandie’s First Grade Jungle had so much fun reading Pete the Cat books this week!

For Fun Friday, we explored lots of different Pete the Cat books and practiced identifying story elements along the way. Students chose their four favorite books to feature on a poster and shared their favorite part from each story.

We even integrated a little technology! Students watched how-to-draw videos and practiced drawing their very own Pete the Cat.

Reading, creating, drawing, and learning together made for a pretty groovy Friday in Mrs. Thames and Mrs. Mandie’s First Grade Jungle!
