🌱 Second graders took their social studies learning outside the classroom with a visit to Bardwell Farm!

🚜 We’re learning about producers, consumers, goods, and services, and Farmer Harry helped us see those ideas in action. We learned about the crops he produces, took a walking tour of the farm and greenhouses, and even got our hands in the soil to plant seeds. 🌱

🎃 Then we became consumers ourselves! We finished our visit by choosing and purchasing our own pumpkins.

🥕 From producer to consumer, we got to experience the whole process right here in our own community!

💚 Thank you, Bardwell Farm, for helping make our learning so real, meaningful, and fun!

😊 We’ve been learning that kindness doesn’t have to be a big thing.

💛 Sometimes it’s as simple as helping someone, giving a compliment, sharing, or making someone feel included.

🌟 These are some of the random acts of kindness we came up with and shared with each other.

🙌 You never know how one small act of kindness can make someone’s day better!

💚 What’s one kind thing YOU could do today?

🥣🌞 Starting the day with full bellies and happy smiles! Our kindergarteners and preschoolers enjoyed breakfast first thing this morning, thanks to our school breakfast program.

🍎🥛 A nutritious breakfast helps get little minds and bodies ready for a day of learning, exploring, and growing!

😊 There’s something pretty special about beginning the school day together around the breakfast table. 💛

🏝️ SHIPWRECK! We’re stranded on a tropical island, and there’s no store, no suitcase, and definitely no hat shop! 😱

🛶 Luckily, some materials from our boat washed ashore. Second graders had to use what they found to answer the question: Why do we wear clothes?

🎩 Their challenge: Design and build a hat using only the materials they found!

📦 Lunch bags
🍽️ Paper plates
✨ Tin foil
📎 Clothespins
🧻 Paper towels
…and whatever creative ideas they could come up with!

🔨 Students tested materials, figured out what would work, made changes, and turned their ideas into wearable creations.

☀️ Could their hat protect them from the sun?
🌴 Would it stay together?
🤔 Which materials worked best?

👒 There were lots of different designs, lots of problem-solving, and some seriously creative island survival gear!

🏝️ If you were stranded on the island, what would YOU use to build your hat?

🔵 Make your mark!

🎨 Our first graders celebrated Dot Day by turning a simple dot into something creative and completely their own!

✨ What started as a circle became a chance to imagine, experiment, and discover just how many different ways there are to make your mark.

💡 Every dot tells a different story. Which one is your favorite? 👀

🔢 Numbers can tell a story!

💬 Our second graders tried a Sharing by the Numbers activity, using numbers to share things about themselves and learn more about their classmates.

👀 A favorite number, a special date, a number of siblings, or something completely unexpected… every number gave us another little glimpse into each other.

🤔 What numbers would you use to tell your story?

❤️ What matters to you?

Our third graders created Heart Maps, filling their posters with the people, places, activities, memories, and ideas that are important to them. Each map is as unique as the student who created it!

💭This activity gave students a chance to think about what makes them who they are and represent those things through words, pictures, and creativity.

Take a look at their finished Heart Maps! Which one catches your eye, and what would you put on your own heart map?

🚲✨ Learning to keep moving forward!

Hatfield students had an exciting BMX demonstration, funded by the Hatfield PTA, that was about much more than bikes and big tricks!

The assembly connected BMX riding with important social-emotional goals like motivation, perseverance, setting goals, overcoming challenges, and believing in yourself. Students got to see firsthand what can happen when you practice, take risks, learn from mistakes, and keep going.

And yes… there were some pretty amazing BMX skills along the way! 🤘🚲
