Hastings High School is hosting Freshman Orientation on Sunday, August 16, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. in the high school gym. Incoming freshmen are invited to become acquainted with our building (with the help of our awesome Link Crew!) before the official start of the school year.

We are thrilled to welcome Jesse Van Bemden as the new Hastings High School Dean of Students!

Jesse may be a familiar face to some. During the 2024–25 school year, he served as a Student Support Specialist at Southeastern Elementary, working closely with families, staff, and administrators to help students thrive inside and outside the classroom.

He brings extensive expertise in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, trauma-informed practices, and individualized student support. Jesse returns to Hastings highly recommended by his former colleagues here, as well as his current principal in Byron Center. Join us in welcoming Jesse back to the team!

Mr. Powell is certainly on the move this year!

A few months ago, we announced his appointment as our new Director of Career and Technical Education. Since then, an exciting new opportunity emerged, and we are thrilled to share that Mr. Powell will now instead serve as our new High School Principal!
