I have to send a huge thank-you to all of the sweet students who went out of their way to make today one of the best birthdays ever! From constant well-wishes to handmade cards, thoughtful gifts, a surprise visit, and some of the most touching notes I've ever read, I am moved beyond words by the love I've received today. I thank God for bringing me to Zion and for the amazing students He has placed in my classes! ♥️

I just have to take a second to brag on a couple of my students. For our last week of school, I assigned a city-building enrichment project to my 6th grade math group, part of which was developing a budget for building the city. Of the 3 students who sent me pictures of their final projects, two of them set aside money out of their allotted budget to donate to help their theoretical community. One donated money to give police, firefighters, and teachers higher salaries; the other donated money to affordable housing and healthcare during the COVID pandemic. How big of a heart do you have to have to make a point of donating imaginary money in an imaginary city? ❤️ Teaching so often restores my faith in humanity. I can't wait to see these kids in person again!
