Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library seeking volunteers for our upcoming Book sale.

Our fall sales event is just around the corner. The sale begins on Thursday, November 6th (for FOL members only) and concludes at our brown grocery bag sale on Sunday, November 9th.
As your Volunteer Coordinator, I'm looking for volunteers to work this event. Here is a breakdown of activities we need to fill.

Friday, October 31st from 3-4:30: Room setup. Drag the tables and chairs into the large room. Hang signage.
Saturday: November 1st - November 6th: Sorters. Sorters work during regular library hours. The sale room is closed and locked when the library is closed. These individuals go through donations and sort items and put them on display. We have had in place some outstanding sorters. Sorting includes knowing the difference between Fiction and NonFiction. We alphabetized all Fiction books! On Saturday morning we often work with some of our local high school students.

Cashiers: These individuals process payment either cash or checks. This does include renewal membership notices too.
Tabulators: These individuals total a person's purchases and place the amount on a post-it to send to the cashier.
Floaters/General Assistance: These individuals assist with questions our shoppers might have. They assist with getting purchases into vehicles (we have a cart), and bring the extra smiles to the sale.
Drivers: These individuals assist with bringing unsold merchandise to the Goodwill in Cottage Grove. Trucks and SUVs work Best. Don't worry, the Goodwill has staff to do the heavy lifting.

Each volunteer will receive a confirmation email from our volunteer coordinator Theresa Auge' a week or so prior to the sale event.

We start collecting donations for the April sale Saturday 3/29/25. Just bring your donations into the library during regular hours. Let your friends and family know! Paperback, Hardcover, Children’s, Adult, Teen, Fiction, Non-fiction, Vintage, DVDS, Games, and Puzzles are all accepted. But please, no textbooks or Vhs cassettes. If you have paper grocery bags, we’d love to have them for the sale.
