Please join us TOMORROW, Monday November 3rd at 8:30am for the HHS SEPT Coffee at the High School
Agenda:
- Meet Jeanne Farruggio, interim assistant superintendent of
PPS, and MariAngela Sanchez, assistant director of Special Ed
- Special Education Staff changes and transitions (including
roles/responsibilities, intended impact on students of those
shifts, coverage and goals for next year)
- Current testing dynamics (in lieu of official Testing Center)
- Q&A

Please join us as it is especially important given recent changes in our special ed staffing, it's important to attend these collaborative coffees with the school to learn, offer feedback, and help shape our children's education.

Parents of eighth graders with IEPs are encouraged to attend this and other high school programming to best prepare for transition to the HS next fall.

Today, SEPTA sent a letter to the Board of Education and our administration expressing concerned about recent developments affecting our special ed department, including restructuring, significant turnover and loss of institutional knowledge among our staff and leaders. Below, we're sharing the letter, which elaborates on these concerns and asks to better understand our leaders' vision for special ed.

This is a crucial time for the special ed department in Hastings. If you have questions, comments or concerns about the state and future of the department, please add your voice.
