Good afternoon, Carter Families!
I know we are all ready for the rain and cooler weather!
Being that tomorrow is the first rainy day of the school year that will impact drop off and dismissal, I wanted to ensure that there is clear communication about what the process will look like. Please see below.
DROP OFF in the morning:
Rain NO lightning - Staff will be outside as normal to help with student arrival. We know drop off will take longer than normal so please come early, be patient, and know that there is grace for rainy days to not have to walk students in as long as there are cars in the line. At 8:00, you will be required to walk kids into the building to sign them in.
Rain WITH lightning - Staff will be under the awning to greet students, but they will be getting out on their own and scurrying up the sidewalk to the building.
DISMISSAL in the afternoon:
Rain NO lightning -
Car Riders - dismissal as normal. Staff will be outside to load up cars. There will be an increase of car riders, please be patient.
Bus - dismissal as normal
Bikes and Walkers of any kind - Parent discretion. Please put in ride changes by 2:00 and do early pickup by 2:30!
Rain WITH lightning -
Car Riders - dismissal as normal BUT the line will stop at the long front awning for loading in order to keep kids and staff safe. There will be an increase of car riders, please be patient.
Bus - dismissal as normal
Bikes and Walkers of any kind - The children will be held on campus until the lightning has passed, then released to go home. If the storm exceeds 4:00 we will call parents to come pick up their students.
As always, please have your car tags on the ready! If you are planning a ride change for tomorrow, put it in tomorrow before 2:00. As always, any students being picked up early need to be picked up by 2:30. Word to the wise, come early, not at 2:30 if that is your plan. The line will get backed up as we are dismissing kids early for parent pickups.
