FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Haskell CISD is aware of the video captured at the football game vs. Electra on Friday, October 2nd. There was audio caught of an individual using a racial slur directed at an opponent.

The district learned of the video on Saturday, Oct. 3rd and immediately contacted Electra ISD to apologize and assure them that the matter would be investigated and taken seriously. The identity of the individual has been obtained, and Electra ISD was again contacted this morning to provide an update on the situation.

We apologize to Electra ISD, the student athlete, his family, and the community of Electra, along with the many others who rightfully took offense to this remark. We do not condone this behavior and are addressing it. We will also use it as a teachable moment moving forward.

Wade Callaway
Superintendent
Haskell CISD

To protect student privacy, and in keeping with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and state law, the district cannot share the names of those involved or details of any disciplinary action.

Our students have been reaching for the stars!

As our Haskell Elementary students prepared for our field trip to the planetarium in Abilene, they have been learning about the planets, the Sun, and constellations. They even put their creativity to work by creating their own constellations using toothpicks and marshmallows!

Then, they got to take what they learned beyond the classroom and experience the planetarium for themselves. We love seeing our students learn through hands-on activities and real-world experiences!

Haskell High School celebrated our amazing custodians today on Custodian Appreciation Day! Our custodians work hard every day to keep our campus clean, welcoming, and ready for our students and staff. We are so thankful for all they do for HHS!

A special thank-you to Coach Blake’s Principles of Education class for making signs and helping us celebrate our custodians today!

Our senior football players and cheerleaders had the opportunity to spend some time visiting with members of our community at the Experienced Citizens Center!

We love seeing our students connect, listen, and share time with the generations who have helped make Haskell the community it is today.

Mrs. Parham’s Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Terminology students attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s Red Bag Tour in Abilene. Students explored healthcare careers in nursing, pharmacy, public health, biomedical sciences, and more.

Experiences like this help our students connect what they learn today to career and college opportunities after graduation. Go Tribe!
