Survivor Theme – First Day of School

What an incredible first day of school! Thank you to everyone who helped make our Survivor theme come to life. From the decorations and activities to the smiles and teamwork, your hard work and dedication created an exciting and welcoming experience for our students.

To our teachers and staff thank you for going above and beyond to ensure our students felt encouraged, supported, and ready to begin a successful school year.

Just like on Survivor, this year will be filled with challenges, growth, perseverance, and teamwork. Together, we will overcome obstacles, celebrate victories, and prove that we are stronger when we work as one.

Thank you for making our first day a memorable adventure. Here’s to an amazing school year—we’re ready to out think, out learn, out perform together!

✨🐾 The Night Before the First Day… 🐾✨

Tonight, I had the privilege of walking the hallways of Woodmere Elementary one last time before our Wildcats arrive tomorrow morning. As I looked into each classroom, I saw more than decorated bulletin boards and organized desks—I saw the dedication, heart, and commitment of an incredible staff preparing to make this the best school year yet.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to every teacher, paraprofessional, office staff member, cafeteria worker, and support staff member who worked tirelessly to ensure our students have a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment from the moment they walk through our doors.

Thank you to those who stay this evening making sure everything is in place.. Coach Easterling, Ms. Giroir, Mr. Rogers, Mrs. Gardner, Mrs. Dangerfield, Ms. A. Robert, and Ms. S. Robert and Ms. Chevalier.

A very special thank you goes to Mr. LC Williams, our Plant Manager, for leading the charge in preparing our building. Your leadership, along with the outstanding work of our custodial team, has made a tremendous difference. We truly appreciate your hard work and dedication to making Woodmere shine!

Tomorrow, our Wildcats begin a new adventure, and we are ready to embrace our Survivor theme by continuing to Out Think. Out Learn. Out Perform.

Dana is the Cafeteria Manager at Woodmere Elementary, where she has served students for the past five years. After spending four years supporting the cafeteria team in various roles, she stepped into the manager position this school year, bringing with her 13 years of child nutrition experience.

For Dana, every meal is about more than food. It's about making sure every child who walks through the cafeteria line receives a healthy, balanced meal and knows they are cared for. She understands that for some students, school meals may be the most important meals of their day, and she takes that responsibility to heart.

What Dana loves most is seeing students every day and watching them grow throughout the years. It's what has kept her coming back for more than a decade. She also says Woodmere is filled with educators who truly care about children and are there because they want to make a difference in their lives.

As we prepare for an amazing 2026–2027 school year, please take a few moments to review our Woodmere Parent Information Sheet. These important procedures help us provide a safe, organized, and successful learning environment for every child.

Please remember:
✅ School Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 2:50 p.m.
✅ Students may not be dropped off before 7:30 a.m.
✅ Breakfast is served from 7:30–8:00 a.m.
✅ Classes begin at 8:00 a.m.
✅ Students are tardy at 8:05 a.m. and must be signed in by a parent.
✅ The car rider line closes at 8:00 a.m. Please do not block the driveway.
✅ Car rider tags must be displayed in your vehicle to enter the car rider lane.
✅ Early check-out ends at 2:20 p.m.
✅ If your child’s dismissal changes, please send a signed parent letter to the school. In case of an emergency, call the front office at 504-371-0476 and follow up with an email to [email protected].
✅ Please do not park on Alex Kornman Blvd. to avoid receiving a parking ticket.

2026–2027 Car Rider Information

To help ensure a safe, smooth, and efficient arrival and dismissal, please review our Woodmere/St. Ville Car Rider Map before the first day of school.

This car rider route is for:
📍 Woodmere Elementary: Pre-K through 8th Grade
📍 St. Ville School: 5th through 8th Grade

Please follow the designated traffic pattern and remember:

✅ Enter the car rider lane using the second driveway on Alex Kornman Blvd.
✅ Follow all directional arrows and staff instructions.
✅ Pull forward as space becomes available.
✅ Do not block driveways or walkways.
✅ Be patient and courteous as we work together to keep all students safe.

The safety of our students, families, and staff is our top priority. Thank you for helping us provide a safe and efficient arrival and dismissal process for everyone.
