Alabama State 2026
What an unforgettable weekend we all shared together! We had 9 of our own qualify for state, and 7 of you battled your way to the podium. It was a proud moment for Sparkman—never before have we seen so many of our wrestlers in the finals, fighting with heart for that 1st place finish. We celebrated a State Champion, cheered for 3 State Runner-Ups, one 3rd place finisher, and two 4th place finishers.

Our girls wrestling team made history as State Runner-Up—the very first AHSAA sanctioned title in Sparkman wrestling history. Each of you left everything you had on the mat, and it showed.

There were plenty of tears—some from the thrill of victory, others from the sting of close losses—but what stood out most was the way we all rallied around each other. Whether we were basking in a win or helping a teammate back up after a tough match, nobody ever stood alone. The encouragement from our coaches, the cheers from our parents, and the kindness and support from every one of you made it clear: we’re more than just a team, we’re truly a family.

MJ, what an incredible journey you’ve had this year! Wrapping up your 8th grade year with a 40-7 record and earning the title of State Champion is nothing short of amazing. From the moment you stepped onto the mat as a first-year wrestler, your natural talent was impossible to miss—and it’s been so exciting to watch you grow and thrive. You bring so much joy to our team, always cheering everyone on with your bright smile and genuine encouragement. Your hard work and determination have truly paid off, and it’s inspiring to see how much you’ve developed in such a short time. You show us all that it doesn’t matter if you’re new to the sport—when you give your all, incredible things can happen. Despite your well-earned successes, you always remain humble, never boasting even though you absolutely could. Since you first stepped onto the mat as a young kid, everyone could see your passion and dedication—it's what made you the one to watch year after year. Wrapping up your Senior season with a 49-5 record and an incredible Varsity career of 161-31 is just proof of how much heart you put into this sport. You’re not only a team captain but a true role model for our younger athletes; they look up to you every day, learning from your commitment and drive. The way you support your teammates and bring positive energy to the room is infectious, lighting up practices and meets with your enthusiasm and joy. Alex, you’ve truly made your mark as a 3rd year wrestler, finishing your Senior year with an impressive 49-11 record and an overall varsity record of 83-45. Watching you step into your role as team captain, we’ve seen your hard work and dedication pay off, earning the trust of everyone around you. Even when others didn’t see your potential this season, your teammates always believed in you—and you proved them right by accomplishing so much. Every time you step onto the mat, your passion and fierce determination shine through, reminding us all of how much you care and how hard you fight for your team. As one of our team captains and a leader among our female wrestlers, you've always been there for your teammates—especially the newcomers.
