Home preschool week 7!
Letters of the week: J, G, V
Theme: The Circus Ship and neighborhoods
Activity: We looked at all of the pages in the Circus Ship where it showed the town and we talked about what buildings are in most neighborhoods and what is in our neighborhood. Then I had Corwin draw a map of our neighborhood based on his own thoughts and ideas. Once we had the map we went to the toy area to turn our map into a 3D neighborhood with toys and blocks.

Home preschool week 6!
Letters: P, B, R
Theme: Weather
Activity: Rain cloud painting. We first took three different colored blues and put a line of paint across the paper about half way down. We then used a dropper to wet the paint. Then Corwin had a straw and blew the paint down like rain. I did have to help guide the straw a bit. Then when it dried I cut the top half to look like a cloud.

Home preschool week 6!
Letters: P, B, R
Theme: The Circus Ship book and weather
Activity: Ice animals. I froze animals in ice overnight and then Corwin got to chop them out. This is a great activity to keep kids busy for awhile! We talked about how water freezes when it’s cold and melts when it is warm.

Preschool co-op day, and it was our turn to host! We used a lesson from Peaceful Preschool’s garden unit.
If you haven’t checked out https://www.thepeacefulpreschool.com take a look. They have a year long curriculum as well as smaller ones like this garden one.

Home preschool week 5!
Letters: P, B, R
Theme: The Circus Ship book
Activity: We made a sugar tray to draw with fingers a re-enactment of the first part of The Circus Ship where the ship sinks and the animals swim to shore. We talked about each animal and whether we thought they would swim fast or slow, in a straight line or zig zag. We also used the tray to practice writing letters with Corwin’s finger. Then we brought out cookie cutters for fun to make different shapes.

Home preschool week 5!
Letters: P, B, R
Book: The Circus Ship
Activity: Sink or float. We tried out a few different boats made out of different materials and guessed whether or not they would sink or float. If they floated we put marbles in to count how many we could fit before it sank.

Home preschool week 4!
Letters: C, O, Q
Activity: Child lead lesson. Corwin got to be the teacher for the day and he came up with a great lesson! I have no idea what was going on, but he certainly talked a lot about North and South America and used some of the learning tools that we had used over the week so I think in his brain we were well on topic. It was great to see him take a leadership role.

Preschool at home week 4!
Letters of the week: C,O,Q
Activity: Transportation around the world. I used sheets of paper to loosely create the continents. Paper isn't fixed to the ground so was picked up and put back into our paper bin afterwards. We then added some fun things to each continent. Corwin was given a little guy and the guy had to use all sorts of different transportation methods, boat, train, off road vehicle, walking, driving, realizing now I forgot airplane, to get from Australia to Canada!

Home Preschool week 4!
Letters of the week: C,O,Q
Books: The Berenstain Bears Around the Word by Mike and Jan Berenstain.
Activity: This was a real fun one. Corwin and I pulled out our map and laid it on the floor. We then went into our scrap paper box and both worked at cutting the different colored paper up into small pieces. When that was done I had Corwin use his mini front loader (I called it a bulldozer and he was not impressed) and move the pieces of paper on each continent while I talked about the names of the countries he was covering up. Corwin loved it. We did it three times and he wanted me to name off the countries each time!

At home preschool week 3, continuation of colors and planets as Corwin had so much fun with it last week.
Letters of the week: Stuck with E, F, H like last week since we haven't moved off of our subject yet.
Books: Press Here
Activity: This was a fun color mixing activity. Corwin mixed the primary colors to make purple, green, and orange. We used paper towels between the cups to make rainbows. We also used the dropper to mix colors to color in the planets.

Home preschool week 2!
Letters of the week: E, F, H
Books: Planet Name Game
Activity: This was a real fun one, although I do caution attempting it in the Florida heat like we did. We found 8 different sized balls and set them up to match with each planet size. Then we took our cones (Melissa and Doug, I highly recommend them as we use them for everything) and measured out a scaled version of how far away each planet is from the sun. The sun resided in the soccer goal so it wouldn't blow into the lake. They range from Mercury which is 3 inches from the sun all the way to Neptune which is 98 feet from the sun. The first 4 planets we threw the ball from the cone towards the sun. Then the next three planets were so big and so far away we kicked them down the lawn into the sun. The very last planet is smaller and so far away Corwin ended up running it to the sun.

Letters of the week: E, F, H
Book: Mousetronaut by Astronaut Mark Kelly
Activity: Play-doh color mixing planets. Using primary colors we mixed playdoh to make each of the planets. The best part is when they aren't fully mixed it creates these great marbling patterns that make it seem much more life like.
