POV: explaining high school research like a caveman because it’s honestly that simple

research = you smart + you unique. that’s the whole pitch!

Comment “COLD” and I’ll send you the exact cold email template that gets students real replies — the one that lands in an actual person’s inbox instead of the careers black hole.

Being nice is underrated and honestly it’ll get you further than your GPA!

Hot take: academia only takes you so far. The rec letters, the deeper connections, the people who actually want to help you — that comes from being someone people like being around.

Fun fact, the harvard people I meet / work with?
Generally way nicer than your average person. This is not a coincidence - being smart gets your foot in the door but being socially competent + genuinely kind is what helps you optimize for success.

Moral of the story - be nice!

I’ve realized, in life, credibility matters way more than money.

So, even if you get tempted by money (e.g., getting a big scholarship at another school). The best choice is almost always to go for credibility.

The reason? Credibility compounds. The more you invest in credibility the easier the next thing you do is (e.g., getting a job) which then makes the NEXT thing easier (e.g., starting a company).

If you want to think long term, credibility is almost always the right move.

it’s June. two months before the panic hits. here’s how to actually use them 👇

Breathe first. every summer starts with big plans, then July hits and you’ve slept till noon for two weeks. normal. the fix is a little structure, not more pressure.

Pick one focus. you don’t need every day planned. pick one main thing, set weekly goals, block time for work AND rest, find someone to keep you honest.

Go deep, not wide. ten half-finished things mean nothing. one or two you go all in on mean everything. colleges spot depth from filler instantly.

Start this week. search programs that fit you, send cold emails for research spots, map a project you can run solo, talk to someone who’s done it.

a great summer doesn’t just happen. it gets planned. save this for when the motivation dips 🤍

Nobody is “born curious.”

The students who end up obsessed with their research topic learned how to make the work pull them in 🧠

Here’s how to turn studying into something you actually chase instead of avoid 👇

Nobody tells you this, but most rejected Ivy applicants look exactly the same on paper 👇

4.0. Great SATs…. President of three clubs…. Volunteer hours

But the accepted ones have one specific, slightly obsessive thing they went deep on for years.

That’s the passion project. The only way to have something that looks real by senior fall is to start now. Whatever grade you’re in, this is your window!
Pick something this month and stay with it.

Comment PASSION and I’ll send you my full guide on how to actually start building a standout passion project 🌟
