🦆 A little surprise is waiting at Amber’s Acres & Adventures… 🌿

Last week the children learned about pond life and ducks.

The kids don’t know it yet, but when they return they’ll discover these adorable ducklings waiting for them! 🦆

I can’t wait to see their faces when they walk in and realize our pond life lesson has come to life.

More adventures to come at Amber’s Acres & Adventures. 💛

🦆 Pond Life at Amber’s Acres & Adventures 🌿

Friday the children explored pond life and learned about ducks — including why ducks are such great swimmers and how their feathers help keep them dry in the water.

After our discussion, the kids created their own little duck friends using paper plates, feathers, and lots of imagination.

Activities like this help children practice so many important skills:
✂️ cutting
🖍️ coloring
🪶 exploring textures
🎨 creativity
🧠 early science thinking

You could really see the concentration on their faces as they cut, glued, and designed their ducks. Moments like these are where so much learning happens.

At this age, it’s not about making the “perfect craft.” It’s about the process — exploring, creating, building confidence, and having fun.

Every duck turned out a little different… and that’s exactly how it should be. 💛

💦 Water + dirt = the best kind of play

Today the children worked together filling buckets with water and turning the dirt into the perfect mud for mixing, scooping, and pouring.

There were lots of muddy hands, splashing boots, and creative “recipes” being made.

Mud play may look messy, but it builds creativity, teamwork, and sensory exploration.

And judging by the smiles… it was a big hit. 👢💦

Just another fun day at Amber’s Acres & Adventures.

🔍 Little explorers at work!

Today the children became nature detectives. With magnifying glasses in hand, they carefully examined puddles, rocks, and tiny surprises hidden in the mud.

While exploring, we talked about tadpoles and how they grow into frogs. The children looked closely into the puddles to see if they could spot any tiny swimmers beginning their life cycle.

What might seem like “just a puddle” to adults becomes a whole world of discovery for little learners.

Moments like this help build curiosity, observation skills, and a love for exploring the world around them.

And of course… a few muddy boots along the way. 💦👢

Great times at Amber’s Acres & Adventures.

What are they looking at? 👀

Curiosity took over today when the children had the chance to observe and gently touch Ruby the snake. 🐍

There were lots of wide eyes, big smiles, and brave little fingers learning what snake skin feels like.

Moments like this help children build confidence, learn respect for animals, and explore the world around them in a safe and guided way.

Some were a little cautious…
Some were very brave…
But everyone was curious.

And curiosity is where learning begins. 💝

Sensory exploration in action ✨ Messy hands, busy minds

Exploring texture and color using a simple sensory mixture. The children stirred, spread, swirled, and experimented using tools and their hands.

Activities like this strengthen fine motor skills, encourage creativity, and allow children to explore through their senses.

Sometimes the best learning happens when things get a little messy 💝

The children explored dramatic play as they created their own bouquets, arranged flowers, wrapped them with care, and “purchased” them at our shop.

Through this experience, they practiced social skills, communication, early math (counting and exchanging), and fine motor skills while engaging in meaningful, imaginative play.

From choosing flowers to wrapping each bouquet, every step was filled with creativity, confidence, and connection 💕

Valentine “treat” creations 💕

The children used recipe cards and playdough mats to create their own sweet treats, counting, sorting, and building as they followed each step.

This hands-on activity supports early math skills, fine motor development, and the ability to follow directions- all while feeling like play.

A little learning, a lot of love, and plenty of pretend treats 💗✨
