🌟 Staff Spotlight: Meet Patti Greene! 🌟

For the past 10 years, Patti Greene has been an important part of the GSSM community, serving as our Lead Nurse and Health Services Coordinator.

For Patti, the best part of GSSM is the students, their enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to go above and beyond to make their experience here meaningful. One of her favorite opportunities is taking students to job shadow a local physician and seeing their excitement as they experience healthcare careers firsthand.

Patti’s passion for helping others extends well beyond campus. Over the past two years, she has traveled to Guatemala and Ecuador with MEDLIFE, supporting communities through service.

And a fun fact? Patti recently taught herself how to shuffle dance while jumping rope! Now that takes coordination! 👏

Thank you, Patti, for 10 years of caring for our Govies and being such an important part of the GSSM community!

đź’— What Would Dolly Do? Choose Kindness. đź’—

Today, GSSM was filled with a little extra pink, and a whole lot of kindness. Our students, faculty, and staff came together to honor Dolly Parton and the kindness and care she shared with others.

Throughout campus, our Govies found ways big and small to brighten someone’s day through random acts of kindness. From encouraging words and thoughtful notes to helping a friend, thanking a colleague, or simply making someone smile, it was wonderful to see so many participate.

We also asked members of our GSSM community to share how they chose kindness today, and their answers reminded us that even the smallest gestures can make a difference.

Thank you to everyone who wore pink, participated, and helped spread kindness across campus. And as we reminded everyone yesterday, this doesn’t have to be just for one day:
“What Would Dolly Do?” Choose kindness. 💗

Faculty Spotlight: Meet Taylor Belcher!

For the past seven years, Taylor Belcher has been helping Govies explore the world of computer science, and sometimes a few subjects you might not expect!

As a Computer Science Instructor, Taylor enjoys working with students who are motivated, curious, and always willing to learn something new. His time at GSSM has included everything from exploring Toki Pona and Argentinian mathematical literature to reading The Lord of the Rings with students.

💡 Surprising fact about Taylor: In college, he discovered he could kick himself in the head, and one of his life goals is to become that flexible again. In his words, “It’s very serious stuff.”

One of Taylor’s favorite GSSM traditions is Inside GSSM, where he enjoys meeting prospective students and families and sharing what makes the Govie experience special.

We’re proud to spotlight the faculty and staff who make GSSM a great place to learn, grow, and discover!
