We’re celebrating Mrs. Ashley Smith as she steps into her new role as Regional Career Coach Mentor with the Alabama State Department of Education. 🎉

While we are absolutely thrilled for Mrs. Smith and this incredible opportunity, we will miss her here at the RDP. Ashley was our Instructional Coordinator and played a vital part in all that we do here. She made a lasting impact on our students, worked hard to ensure their success, and continually encouraged her colleagues.

Our Machine Tool Technology I students visited the lab today to learn the machines we have at RDP! Thanks to their Calhoun Community College instructor, Mr. Owens, for a great first day! 🎉

We’re excited for these students as they begin building the hands-on skills and gain experience that will prepare them for careers in advanced manufacturing. We’re also grateful for instructors like Mr. Owens who bring their expertise and passion to the classroom and the lab!

Meet the newest group of students taking on a career that plays a huge role in keeping patients safe!

Sterile processing technicians are the behind-the-scenes heroes of healthcare. They clean, disinfect, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment so they’re ready to safely use on the next patient.🧤

Did you know? 👀
🦠 Sterile processing is one of the most important lines of defense against infection in healthcare.
🧰 Sterile processing technicians can be responsible for thousands of instruments and devices that must be properly cleaned, inspected, assembled, and sterilized before they can be used again!
🏥 They work closely with surgical teams, even though patients may never see them.
🔍 Attention to detail is everything in this field. One missed step can have a big impact.

🎉 Day 2 was a great one! So much fun!

Students kicked off the day with an interactive Bingo game featuring challenges like awkward family photos, movie-poster poses, and finding classmates with common interests! 📸😂 It was the perfect way to get students moving, meeting new people, and building connections.

We also welcomed representatives from Calhoun Community College, who shared valuable resources, programs, and opportunities available to our students! 💙
