Sacred Heart School, Hartsdale

Yesterday, we lost a past parent of SHS and need to honor her for all that she did during her years with our children. Janet Aurigemma was the mom of Gary, Kristin, and Mark. She was a vice-president of the Parent's Club, a class mother many times, and helped in the kitchen during the JV and Varsity basketball seasons. She supervised craft events in her home to prepare for the Christmas Fair, and she and Gary helped with the baseball team when Mark was a member. We all need to take a moment to remember a great mom who gave so much to our school. If there was a SHS Hall of Fame, Janet Aurigemma should be there. Our prayers are with Gary, her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren. We will never forget you, Janet. Rest in peace.

Congratulations to the class of 2013 on receiving their rings today. We are very proud of them and wish them the best of luck in their remaining months as 8th graders.

Believe it or not, it is Labor Day weekend! In a few days, school will open. We look forward to seeing our students on Wednesday, September 5th at 8:10 for our morning greeting and prayer. On that day, we will have an 11:30 dismissal. Thursday and Friday will be full days. Pre-K and K have a special phase in schedule that parents should have received in a summer mailing. The Mass of the Holy Spirit will be celebrated at 8:30 AM on Friday followed by the Parents' Club Breakfast. We hope you all enjoy these final days of summer and anticipate a wonderful school year.

Nancy Raftery has made the difficult decision to retire from teaching. She has had a long association with Sacred Heart School recently as a third grade teacher (25 years teaching with 15 at Sacred Heart), a teacher's aide for 5 years, parent, and as an active member ot the Parent's Club where she served as treasurer. Her students benefited from her dedication, enthusiasm,and a love of history. The faculty and staff of Sacred Heart wish her the best in her future. We look forward to seeing Mrs. Raftery as a substitute in our classrooms.

We wish Sister Helen Bryant the best of everything as she leaves Sacred Heart....the students, parents, and especially the faculty, will miiss her so very much...she has served our school for 33 years and has been a part of so many parish activities...she will always be a part of our school and parish and will be remembered by all she touched in her teaching career....We love you, Sister Helen, and may God bless you always......

Believe it or not.....Friday, June 22nd is the last day of school....We will begin with Mass at 8:30.....The Honors Assembly and songs from the first through seventh graders will begin at 9:15....Dismissal will follow the assembly at 10:30.....Hope everyone can join us!

God bless our eighth graders as they graduate on Saturday and move on to high school. We wish them all the best and hope they carry with them some wonderful memories of their years at Sacred Heart. Keep up the good work and let us know how you are doing in your new school.

Congratulations to all of our Pre-K and Kindergarten students who will celebrate Achievement Day tomorrow morning. We hope you all have an enjoyable day and wish you a wonderful, safe summer.

Thank you Parents for another great Field Day. Although it ended with a "little" rain, all enjoyed great food, cotton candy, ice cream, and lots of fun. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped make it a special time for the students and faculty.

Come to the annual Talent Show at 9:15 AM on Friday, May 4th. It's always fun to see our students share their talents with their classmates.

Thank you members of the Parents' Club for a great night at the Spring Fling! All was most enjoyed by those who attended.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of "Seussical" and special thanks to Mrs. Frederico, Mrs. Varuolo, and Mr. Nanko for all of their hard work. What a great performance! Bravo!!!!!!!
