We were thrilled to welcome over 550 grandparents and special guests to our Lower School today for Yom Dorot!
Westchester's premier private Jewish day school providing a comprehensive, rigorous dual curriculum
Since 1966, we have built a warm and welcoming community fortified and strengthened by the values and practices that are at the core of our school. Our students embrace the pursuit of excellence, the joy of achievement, the importance of Jewish tradition and ritual. We are excited by new ideas and delight in our familiesโ involvement in our school, in Israel, and in tikkun olam (repair of the world).

Kol hakavod to our 32 middle and high school students who sat for the final stage of the Hebrew Olympiad, the global written exam coordinated by Tel Aviv University | ืืื ืืืจืกืืืช ืชื-ืืืื and Brandeis University. Our students spent the session tackling complex puzzles that tested both their Hebrew knowledge and their ability to decode linguistic patterns and logic.
We're so proud of our students, and we are eagerly awaiting the results. ๐ฆโจ
Yom HaAtzmaut 2026! ๐ฎ๐ฑWhat a spectacular day celebrating Israel at The Leffell School! ๐
The Leffell School is incredibly proud and excited to share that High School History Department Chair Harry Shontz was presented with the Milken Educator Award this morning, during a surprise presentation at our Upper School-wide assembly.
Often referred to as the โOscar of Teaching,โ the Milken Educator Award is the nationโs preeminent educator recognition initiative, rewarding instructional excellence, professional leadership, and potential for even greater contributions to the field. Mr. Shontz is the first educator in Westchester County โ and the second from any Jewish school nationally โ to receive this prestigious honor in the nearly forty years since its creation, and he is one of only 27 teachers across the country to be selected for the award during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Please join us in congratulating Mr. Shontz on this incredible, well-deserved honor!
