It was a hard day of wrestling at Sectionals for Matt and Stephen. We didn’t make it Madison but they gave it their best effort. Words fail to express the feelings of a season coming to an end for any wrestler and harder still a high school wrestling career in Stephen’s case. When you spend 4 seasons sweating, bleeding, and at times crying with your athletes, it is NEVER easy to see it come to a close. As we often tell them (and ourselves), wrestling is something we will do our whole life. It may not be on mat against an opponent, it will be…with ourselves, with our jobs, with our disappointments, with our family at times, with difficult decisions and the list goes on. Wrestling is a vehicle that teaches us life lessons, grows us in our faith, and grows us in our character in ways unlike any other sport and that is what makes it awesome. I am so grateful for this season, these kids, and their families. Praise God.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this God’s will for your life in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Senior Stephen Connell (170) and Junior Matt Dobson(182) both punched their tickets to Sectionals next weekend with 2nd place finishes at the Regional today. Junior Jacob Waltersdorf placed 4th. Go Lightning!

Team placed 6/8 with only four wrestlers scoring. Great Day for the Lighting.

Stolli Toughness T-shirts Fundraiser
Hello family, friends, and supporters of the Stollenwerk Family,
I am excited to offer an opportunity to support the Stollenwerks with this T-shirt Fundraiser. As you probably know, Mike has been an Assistant Coach for the LCL wrestling program for over a decade and helped us start the program. One of our Core Values for the wrestling program is MENTAL TOUGHNESS. You may have seen our t-shirts in the past that have that phrase “Mental Toughness” right on the front. We define Mental Toughness as the following…
Mental Toughness: the ability to face adversity and failure without a loss of effort, attitude, or enthusiasm.
As Mike, Jenny, Ethan, and Owen have been walking this medical journey with Christ at their side, they have displayed incredible Mental Toughness. A will of the spirit that comes from the faith they have in Jesus has allowed Mike and his family to press on. I tell Mike that he is isn’t just mentally tough, he has Stolli Toughness. Psalm 121 has given Mike and his family much comfort and encouragement, and it is the passage he shared with me the night we spent time together before his surgery in late June.
If you know Mike, he is a fighter and has been this whole journey. As a simple fundraiser for the family, I am selling these T-shirts as a way for us to support them and all proceeds will go directly to the family to help with whatever costs they have incurred.

I want to invite you to a benefit for Coach Stolli (Michael Stollenwerk) Some of you know that Coach had brina surgery about a month ago to remove a benign mass. The surgery went well but he had 2 emergency surgeries in the 24 hours following to address complications.
