What a wonderful sight -- our staffulty are back on campus! This morning we welcomed back all our amazing staffulty (with a few new faces too!) as preparations for the 2026–27 school year begin.

We gathered in the Laker Café to connect over breakfast, catch up with colleagues and hear from our Head of School as we look ahead to the school year. There’s lots to look forward to as we begin another great year together!

Earlier this week, we were honored to welcome Marcelle Haddix, Dean and the Karen A. Falk Distinguished Chair of Education at the UW–Madison School of Education, to University Lake School, along with Betsy Burns, Vice President & Managing Group Leader of the Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association.

During her visit, Dean Haddix learned more about the remarkable education ULS provides its students and the work of the Falk Family Center for Learning Engagement. She noted how impressed she was by all that has been accomplished through the Falk Center in such a short time. At the heart of it all is what we’ve always believed: meet students where they are and honor who they are.

This summer, a group of ULS students took part in Zero Robotics, a program developed by MIT in partnership with NASA. The robotics programming competition challenges students to code satellites aboard the International Space Station and watch them compete live in microgravity.

It was an incredible opportunity for our students to explore coding, robotics, teamwork, and problem-solving. Both ULS teams were named Rookie Team of the Year! Nice job, Lakers!

Did you make it to Hawk Hill Homegrown last week? We loved seeing our community come together to explore our gardens and greenhouse and learn more about where the fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs in our school lunches begin their journey.

The goal of the ULS Farm to Table program is twofold: to provide fresh, whole foods to students and to model the attainability and sustainability of healthy living and the benefits of hard work.

This summer, ULS students made the most of immersive pre-college opportunities at UW–Madison, UW–Milwaukee, and Vanderbilt University, diving into everything from exotic animal care and coding to freshwater science and psychological research.

Through these hands-on experiences, students explored future career paths, built new skills, and gained an early glimpse into college life. Nice work, Lakers!

Our students are packed up and heading north for an unforgettable adventure in Michigan's Sylvania Wilderness!

Offered as part of our ULS summer offerings, this three-night canoe expedition takes students deep into the beauty of the Upper Peninsula. Over the next few days, they'll paddle and portage through pristine lakes, camp under the stars, hike forest trails, swim, fish, and unplug from technology to reconnect with nature. Here's to an unforgettable adventure!
