The Hartland Elementary School is a K-8 school serving approximately 310 children from the town of Hartland, Vermont. We believe that every child can succeed and we are committed to fostering a love of learning and a spirit of inquiry in our students, as well as supporting their emotional, social, and physical development. In addition to reading, writing, mathematics, science, and humanities, our

academic offerings include world languages, art, music and drama, physical education, technology, health, library and technology skills, and guidance. Students have many opportunities for enrichment throughout the year and in our after-school program. (Past offerings have included Lego robotics, drama club, chess club, arts and crafts, Mandarin, comics, and cooking. Our class sizes average between 15-20 students and our highly trained staff takes pride in keeping their skills sharp through on-going professional development. Hartland Elementary School is located on a wooded campus within easy walking distance of Hartland Three Corners and the town’s library, athletic fields, recreation department, nature trails and Lull’s Brook. The Farm to School program brings our students to working farms in town and brings locally grown food into the school. Our school is deeply rooted in our town and community and we strongly encourage parent and community involvement. Hartland students can choose to attend any local high school to which they are accepted. Our school district also pays the average Vermont state high school tuition to independent schools should an HES student choose to attend a private secondary school. We are proud of the preparation our students receive for high school, college and beyond.

From our Kindergarten Teachers

Hello Kindergarten Families,

The start of school is right around the corner! We know that this transition is an exciting one, but we also know that it is a change that can bring with it some nerves and worries. To help make things a bit more comfortable, we would like to offer an opportunity for you and your kindergartener to come to H.E.S on Thursday, August 20th at 8:00 am to meet their teacher, see the classroom and take a quick bus ride. This optional 'Meet and Greet' should last about 30 minutes.

We hope you enjoy your remaining days of summer, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Hartland Community Arts is seeking art for our upcoming Everyone is an Artist show happening on August 1, at Damon Hall.

Do you have art to submit? Please send a photograph of your piece of art (sculpture, painting, collage, sketch, fingerpaint, fiber art, whatever you make!) to [email protected]. We need your submissions by July 27 at 9 am. This is an all-ages show!

If you currently don't have any art for the show, we have two upcoming weekends of workshops planned to help remedy this situation. The first weekend date is coming up soon!

On Saturday, July 18, in the library community room, there will be two free workshops.
From 10am-12 pm, Prue will be offering a collage class. Play with paper!
From 2-3:30 pm, Chiho will be offering a sketching class. Make a still life, portrait or botanical drawing!

These workshops are co-sponsored by the Hartland Public Library!

Come take a workshop, make some art, and submit it for the show! We'll have a party to celebrate on Saturday, August 1, and the show will be up in Damon Hall for 2 weeks.

If you have questions, please email off list.
Thank you!
Shari
