The Legacy Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization is a venture philanthropy focused on addressing disparities in health and education

The Legacy Foundation is focused on addressing disparities in education and health. We accomplish our mission by identifying and supporting innovative social innovation with strategic and financial resources to grow solutions to scale and achieve substantive, sustainable, and systemic transformative social impact against some of the biggest problems facing community in education and health. One of our programs is our My Brothers’ Keeper Program at Martin Luther King School in Hartford. The Program is a developmental and mentoring program for boys at MLK School focused on establishing a culture of confidence, self-belief and pursuit of and expectations of high achievement, excellence and professionalism.

Remembering September 11, 2001

Today, The Legacy Foundation of Hartford joins communities across Connecticut and the nation in honoring the lives lost on September 11, 2001, while remembering the courage, sacrifice, and unity shown in the days that followed.

May we continue to carry forward the values of compassion, service, resilience, and community—especially as we work to create brighter opportunities for the next generation.

We remember. We honor. We never forget.

🌟 Empowered Girls. Limitless Futures. Martha’s Vineyard.

What happens when young women are given opportunities to lead, learn, connect, and see what’s possible? Their horizons expand.

Legacy scholars Nyla, Elise, Katie, and Adalia recently traveled to Martha’s Vineyard for an unforgettable all-girls experience centered around the Black Economic Forum. During their trip, they had the opportunity to work at the Forum, attend a Youth Summit sponsored by Advantage Solutions and McKinsey & Company, and participate in an HBCU College Fair.

From leadership and networking to college exposure and meaningful new experiences, every part of the trip helped our scholars build confidence, broaden their perspectives, and imagine even bigger possibilities for their futures. 💙✨

And just as importantly, they explored Martha’s Vineyard, strengthened friendships, and created memories they’ll carry with them for years to come.

🎓 College Exploration. Connection. Opportunity.

Legacy scholars and families traveled to Martha’s Vineyard for the HBCU College Fair, where students had the opportunity to connect with HBCU representatives and alumni, learn about colleges and universities, and explore possibilities for life after high school.

Experiences like this help young people ask questions, build meaningful connections, and begin seeing higher education as an attainable next step. From college exploration to networking, it was a day filled with inspiration and new possibilities. 💙

Legacy Foundation of Hartford scholars took their learning beyond the classroom with an unforgettable journey through New York City. From Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty to Harlem, Central Park, Times Square, and a Broadway show, every stop created a new opportunity to explore, learn, and grow. 🎭✨

Experiences like these help young people build confidence, curiosity, cultural awareness, and a bigger vision for their future.
