Yesterday, some of Connecticut’s top automotive technology students put their skills to the test at the annual Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association (CARA) Student Challenge hosted by Gengras Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in East Hartford.

Students from seven CTECS automotive programs competed in a full day of hands-on technical challenges designed to showcase the real-world skills needed in today’s automotive industry. Congratulations to this year’s top finishers:

1st place: Douglas Post, Bristol Technical Education Center
2nd place: Anthony Rykowski, W.F. Kaynor Technical High School
3rd place: Trevor Ritch, Henry Abbott Technical High School

As Connecticut and the nation continue to face a shortage of skilled automotive technicians, events like the CARA Student Challenge are more important than ever. They provide students with industry connections, hands-on experience, and pathways into rewarding careers while helping employers build the next generation workforce.

Thank you to CARA, Gengras, our instructors, industry partners, judges, and everyone who helped make this event possible. hashtag

Across CTECS, several of our schools recently hosted Signing Day celebrations recognizing students who have committed to employers following graduation.

Much like student-athletes signing with colleges or professional teams, these students are taking the next step toward meaningful careers in the skilled trades and workforce they have been preparing for throughout high school.

Families, employers, instructors, and school staff gathered to celebrate this important milestone and the strong partnerships that made it possible. Congratulations to all of the students beginning this exciting next chapter.
