Connecticut State Community College is launching a new associate degree in public health along with two stackable credentials designed to help address growing workforce needs across Connecticut.

Made possible by a $4.2 million grant from Connecticut Department of Public Health, the new programs will prepare students for careers that play a critical role in keeping Connecticut communities healthy and strong.

The program will be offered at CT State’s Capital, Gateway, Housatonic and Three Rivers campuses - creating new pathways into public health careers across the state.

A new semester. A new chapter. And nearly 11,500 students beginning their college careers at CSCU's institutions. 🎓

This fall, 4,768 first-year students are joining our four state universities, while another 6,717 students are starting their journey at CT State Community College.

And with nearly 3,000 students living on campus, our campuses are buzzing with energy as a new academic year gets underway.

Had such a great time joining President Bernal at Western Connecticut State University's Entering the Gates ceremony! 🐺 For these first-year students, walking through WestConn’s iconic gates wasn’t just the start of a new semester – it was the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their lives.

And what a class to welcome! This is WestConn’s largest incoming class in more than a decade. We can’t wait to see how these students make their mark on the university, our state, and the world.

Congratulations to Dr. Christine Broadbridge of Southern Connecticut State University on receiving the Distinguished Service Award from the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering.

A professor of physics at Southern since 2000, Dr. Broadbridge has built an extraordinary career as a researcher, educator, and champion for STEM innovation. She has led major projects and research initiatives supported by the National Science Foundation, NASA, and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Her impact can be seen across Southern's campus and beyond, from helping establish the CSCU Center for Quantum & Nanotechnology and the Innovation Hub to advancing industry partnerships through the Werth Industry Academic Fellowship Program.
