Community Emergency Response Team - CERT Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) educates people about disaster preparedness and hazards that may impact their area & train them in basic skills

The Hartford Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program is part of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) since 1993 and Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS),
Citizens Corps Council, and the National Citizen Corps effort to incorporate and utilize volunteers in the community. The Citizen Corps is endorsed by the President of the United States and the Federal Department of Homeland Security. CERT members are trained in basic response techniques in order to assist local citizens and first responders in disaster or emergency situations.

The Hartford Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) welcomed the CEO of Skateport Takina Shaver and her team from Bridgeport Connecticut to the Hartford Bonanza 2026 America's 250th Event at Bushnell Park on Saturday July 4, 2026. The skating rink was full of first time skaters as well as veteran skaters as they whizzed around the skating rink to the sounds of DJ Budha, who kept the vibes "lit" The Hartford CERT Team assisted with, crowd maintence, skates, wrist & knee pad returns, monitoring the public for heat exhaustion and water distribution.

Friday May 15, 2026, the Hartford CERT Team alongside 70+ volunteers supported the Urban Alliance Packing Party.

Volunteers were able to network, enjoyed snacks and drinks before the packing began, which included coupons for the Farmers Market, The Urban Alliance Resource Guide as well as information on wrap-around community services.
