Our new treasurer, Qiutong (Sylvia) Chen, is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan in Actuarial Mathematics. Originally from China, Sylvia masters three languages, Mandarin, English, and Japanese, and is willing to bring a unique global perspective to everything and heartfelt empathy to everyone.
Aside from actuarial science, Sylvia is passionate about learning new cultures, reading history and travelling. Her curiosity about the world is matched by her compassion for people — she believes that understanding others’ experiences across cultures helps build bridges and make better, more thoughtful decisions.
So, go talk to her! She’s always happy to listen, share stories, and learn something new together.

We were incredibly grateful to attend the Gamma Iota Sigma Annual Conference in Hartford, Connecticut this past week.

As we continue the process of reactivating our Beta Omicron chapter, more than 30 members of ASCU joined as members-at-large to take part in a wide range of programming. Our members engaged with insightful speakers from across the insurance industry, explored opportunities at the career fair, and celebrated the achievements of other chapters and individuals during the awards ceremony.

We look forward to returning next year in Charlotte, North Carolina!
