The story of Trinity's beloved mascot dates back more than 125 years. In 1899, Trustee and alumnus Joseph Buffington, Class of 1875, described Trinity as a proud little bantam in the "collegiate barnyard"—spirited, independent, and never intimidated by schools much larger than itself. The nickname stuck, and generations of Bantams have carried that same spirit ever since.
