Environmental Sciences Magnet School at Mary Ho**er offers a comprehensive program which includes inquiry-based, hands-on studies of our local and global environments. Students monitor, test, and collect data throughout the year noting the seasonal changes and the human impacts on our environment. Students apply environmental science concepts through investigations of air, water, and soil quality. The building and campus provides many different ecosystems and labs which allow students to directly experience and explore local living organisms from plants to butterflies.

At the November 18 Hartford Board of Education Regular Meeting, members of the Board, with Dr. Andraé Townsel recognized freshman Diyalaksha Kalidasan who earned a perfect score on the PSAT 8/9 practice test! A PSAT 8/9 perfect score is uncommon, as a score of 1440 is considered the top of the 99th percentile for both 8th and 9th graders! Diyalaksha also attended Environmental Sciences Magnet at Mary Ho**er for elementary school and Annie Fisher STEM Magnet School for middle school -- more great Hartford Public schools! All three principals joined Diya and her family for this recognition. Only Hartford Public Schools graduates can earn the Hartford Promise scholarship and support! 🎉👏 College Board

Students had a great time at the 5 Senses Lab set up in the vivarium a couple weeks back! From smelling citrus and lemongrass, tasting mint tea, listening to seed pods, feeling rosemary and looking closely at spotted begonias, it sure was a fun Science Friday!
