Observed each May, ALS Awareness Month highlights the challenges faced by those affected by ALS, celebrates their courage, and brings communities together. It also helps drive vital research and advocacy initiatives focused on discovering better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

🚨 Big News from Hartford Hospital! 🚨
Hartford Hospital is proud to be 1 of only 8 Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO)–certified training sites in the United States!
This week, our ECMO team partnered with CESI to deliver a 3-day immersive training course focused on building the technical, clinical, and teamwork skills essential for safe, high-quality ECMO care.
We were thrilled to welcome providers from across the East Coast to CESI as they completed Step 1 & Step 2 requirements for the ELSO Adult ECMO Certification (E-AEC).
👏 A huge shoutout to Matt Figorito, Leonard Texidor, Kellie Kelley, and Dr. Jason Gluck for leading such an outstanding program!

🚨 Disaster Day Highlights! 🚨
Take a look at these moments from Disaster Day, complete with this year’s added challenge: radiation exposure. Exercises like this are essential to the training of our emergency medicine residents, giving them real‑world experience in triaging and managing large volumes of patients under pressure.

On March 20–21, we had the honor of hosting the New England Section of the American Urological Association (NEAUA) right here in Hartford!
This year’s event welcomed 72+ Residents and APPs along with 50+ faculty members for two days of hands‑on learning and collaboration.

• Two live‑acting clinical scenarios
• Microsurgery
• Ultrasound
• Loupes training

Twice a year, Hartford HealthCare’s Center for Education Simulation and Innovation (CESI) welcomes newly hired international nurses with an immersive program designed to support their transition into U.S. clinical practice.
Through hands-on training, high-fidelity simulations, and structured debriefing, nurses build confidence, refine critical thinking, and strengthen essential skills for safe, high-quality patient care.
