We're proud to spotlight Dean Jason Scappaticci, who will be interviewing acclaimed historian Fergus Bordewich this month at the Mark Twain House & Museum.

Their conversation will center on Bordewich's latest book, exploring the 1876 Centennial Exhibition and the pivotal moment in American history it captured.

Dean Scappaticci has been in higher education since 2003, dedicating his career to supporting students at CT State Manchester (formerly Manchester Community College) and now here at CT State Capital. Outside the campus, he's also known around Hartford as "The Bowtie Historian," giving public lectures on topics ranging from Hartford's architectural history to America's Gilded Age. We're proud to see him bring that same passion for history and education into the community.

This event is hosted by one of our valued community partners, the Mark Twain House & Museum, and is free and open to all CT State students, staff, and faculty.

From the classroom to the career floor.

Zach, a Spring 2026 graduate of CT State Capital's Manufacturing program, is proof of what's possible when hands-on training meets real opportunity. In this video, he breaks down what the program gave him: industry-recognized certifications, real hands-on experience, and direct interviews with employers upon completion.

The result? Zach is now employed at Pursuit building a career, not just a resume.

Juneteenth is more than a holiday. It is a testament to freedom, resilience, and the enduring power of community.

As an institution rooted in Hartford and built on the promise of access and opportunity for all, we honor the generations who fought, and continue to fight, for the right to learn, grow, and thrive. Their legacy lives in this city and in every student who walks through our doors.

CT State Capital will be closed on Thursday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. We invite our students, faculty, and community to celebrate, reflect, and connect. Find Juneteenth events happening across Connecticut here: [https://bit.ly/43cJliO] πŸ–€β€οΈπŸ’š
