HMS Students of the Week (10/9/26):
6th Grade: Josue Rocendo Nava - Josue comes to school every day with a positive mindset and is a hard worker. He is kind and helpful and is a great example in and outside of the classroom.

7th Grade: Merari Rocendo - Merari consistently gives her very best effort and approaches each day with a positive attitude and a commitment to learning. She also looks out for those around her, often noticing when a classmate is struggling and going out of her way to help them succeed. She truly embodies what it means to show Husky Spirit - kindness, perseverance, and a willingness to support others.

8th Grade: Ximenna Gasca - Ximenna comes to class every day with a smile on her face and an energy and enthusiasm to learn. Her positive attitude and incredible work ethic are sure to take her very far and her teachers are all very proud of the efforts she has shown so far this year.

6.º grado: Josue Rocendo Nava – Josue llega a la escuela todos los días con una mentalidad positiva y es muy trabajador. Es amable, servicial y un gran ejemplo tanto dentro como fuera del aula.

7.º grado: Merari Rocendo – Merari siempre se esfuerza al máximo y afronta cada día con una actitud positiva y compromiso por aprender. También se preocupa por quienes la rodean; a menudo percibe cuando un compañero tiene dificultades y hace todo lo posible por ayudarle a salir adelante. Ella realmente encarna lo que significa el "Espíritu Husky": amabilidad, perseverancia y disposición para apoyar a los demás.

8.º grado: Ximenna Gasca – Ximenna llega a clase cada día con una sonrisa y con energía y entusiasmo por aprender. Su actitud positiva y su increíble ética de trabajo seguramente la llevarán muy lejos; todos sus maestros están muy orgullosos del esfuerzo que ha demostrado en lo que va de año.

On Saturday, the 8th grade girls volleyball team traveled to Comstock for their SW10 tournament. The girls defeated Bangor and tied Cassopolis in pool play, which gave them the third seed spot of nine teams going into bracket play. The girls would go on to defeat Lawrence and Marcellus before seeing Cassopolis again in the championship game where the Huskies took 2 matches to 1, bringing home the trophy! Coach Valdes thanks both the players and their parents for a great season. 💚🏐

Last week the 8th grade STEM class made volcanoes. They had to work in a team and construct their volcanoes using newspaper, glue, and bottles!

In 7th grade STEM Class we have been working on building cars. In this design thinking exercise, they had to consider how to design a car or other automobile to meet the needs of particular types of users. They had to design ways to make a car, minivan, SUV or truck that solves one of the problems for a particular user. Those situations were distracted driving, adapted automobiles (people wounded that have special needs), messy cars, or creating more space.
