Congratulations to the 2026 CTWAC Summer Interns!

This summer, the World Affairs Council of Connecticut interns helped our team prepare for the Model United Nations conference and upcoming program season. Through their work, they gained essential knowledge and experience for careers in international affairs.

Their experience extended into the Hartford community, with visits to nonprofits throughout the city, a tour of Hartford’s historic Mark Twain House, and a celebration of Peruvian Independence Day at the State Capitol.

Special thanks to The Mark Twain House & Museum, Connecticut Democracy Center, Levo International, and the Consulado General del Perú en Hartford for hosting our interns and providing these valuable learning experiences.

Yesterday, the World Affairs Council of Connecticut's summer team had the honor of joining the celebration of 's Independence Day at the Connecticut State Capitol.

The event commemorated 205 years of Peru's independence and 200 years of friendship between Peru and the United States - a meaningful milestone that highlights the enduring ties between our nations and the importance of international engagement here in .

Thank you for making The Diplomat x Luminary Award 2026 an unforgettable evening as we welcomed the world to Hartford.

On Tuesday, diplomats representing more than 30 nations joined the World Affairs Council of Connecticut alongside business, civic, and community leaders from across the region, for an evening of , , and global as we presented the Luminary Award to Karl Krapek for global impact.

The evening served as a powerful reminder of the importance of international engagement and the relationships that strengthen Connecticut's connections to the world.

Today, the World Affairs Council of Connecticut and our partners had the honor of hosting a delegation of military leaders from countries as part of a seminar with the .

They joined leaders from The Connecticut National Guard, AdvanceCT, Pratt & Whitney, ACM, and Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs - as well as Congressman Joe Courtney, Consul General of Germany in Boston Dr. Sonja Kreibich, and Bob Ross, Director of the CT Office of Military Affairs, for a session on the military and defense ecosystem here in CT.

is home to some of the nation’s most critical military and defense assets, with a global impact on , , and . As a hub of advanced manufacturing, naval engineering, and aerospace technology, the state sits at the center of the defense systems that shape security around the world.
