Attention, attention! If you have students who attend Blackford Intermediate School, please be aware:

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Traffic Changes
Over the next few weeks, BIS will have some temporary changes to our drop-off and pick-up procedures. A construction crew will be working on Conger Street and will be closing the intersections at Indiana Street (west entrance) and Werber Street (east entrance).

Phase 1 – Indiana Street Entrance Closed

The first entrance to be closed will be the Indiana Street (west) entrance. This closure is tentatively scheduled to begin Thursday, August 27.

During this phase:

All vehicles will enter and exit through the Werber Street entrance.
Vehicles will follow the designated loop around the parking lot to drop off students.
After dropping off students, vehicles will exit through the Werber Street entrance.
We will maintain this traffic pattern until the construction crew reaches the Werber Street intersection.
Phase 2 – Werber Street Entrance Closed

Once the construction reaches the Werber Street (east) entrance, we will change the traffic pattern.

At that time:

All vehicles will enter through the Indiana Street (west) entrance.
Vehicles will follow the new designated traffic flow through the parking lot.
Vehicles will both enter and exit through the Indiana Street entrance.
Principal Fox is hopeful that these traffic changes will only affect BIS for approximately two weeks.

Hey Bruins...... Blackford County Animal Shelter WILL BE HOSTING OUR 9TH SHELTER DOG WALK Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 6pm.

YOU MUST SIGN UP BY EMAILING US AT [email protected].

The goal of this event is to get our shelter dogs out of the shelter to enjoy some exercise and fresh air, and to spend time with humans.

BCAS will have shelter dogs on site at the Blackford County Greenway Trail at 5:50 PM for people to join us and walk. You can find us in the southwest corner of the Blackford County High School where the trail starts. (by the tennis court) It is an easy, out-and-back 3.9-mile (total) paved walk that will take roughly 1-1.5 hours to do. You can walk as much of the trail as you want.

For planning purposes, we need to know how many people are interested so that we can bring the appropriate amount of dogs. If you would like to walk one of our shelter dogs on August 22nd, then please email us at [email protected].

We are excited about getting our dogs out of the shelter for the evening! We will do the best we can to accommodate everyone with a shelter dog. If you are coming with a large group, you may have to share a dog within your group. If you arrive late, then we can not guarantee that there will be a dog for you to walk.

Anyone under the age of 18 will need a parent to accompany them or sign a permission slip. *Ms. Myers in room 222 has permission slips you can get signed and bring with you to the event.
