Little Lea Montessori We are an in-home Montessori preschool for children 3 years and above in Harrodsburg, KY. Our part time schedule is from 8:00am-12:00pm. (Monday to Friday)

Finally! … some chicks hatched 3 days early and continue to hatch. The kids were so excited … they got to see the egg shells crack open and the damp chick roll out and struggle to stand. Once stabilized, the chicks were transferred to a large tub with a brooding warmer plate and chick feeder with water and grain. Each student got to hold a chick. Oh what an experience!!

It’s EARTH DAY!! Little Lea children do their part to clean up their surroundings ... they pick up trash on their walk to the track and field. The kids loved collecting empty soda cans and papers with blue rubber gloves and grocery bags … a little ‘elbow grease' goes a long way! 😂 Happy Earth Day!!

Day 8 in the life-cycle of the chicken egg and duck egg … blood vessels are visible … the silhouette of living creature (little chick and duckling) forming inside the shells … how exciting… the children are ecstatic!! 13 more days for little chicks to hatch and 20 more days for ducklings to hatch. Little fingers crossed!!

Children at Little Lea Montessori gather around the desert box with wooden characters and objects to learn about God, his followers Abraham, Moses and many others who did what he taught. They also learn about Jesus Christ, his birth at Christmas and his death and resurrection at Easter ... and about how to live a life just like Jesus.

Montessori education is interested in nurturing all aspects of the
child. The spiritual formation of the child is facilitated through its teaching module called GODLY PLAY.

Godly Play is a creative, imaginative approach to Christian formation and spiritual guidance. It values process, openness, spiritual discovery, faith community and relationships. Using a sand-filled desert story telling box, wooden figures are used to teach Bible stories and discuss themes of faith and life.

Children are captivated by how the life-cycle of ducks and chickens work in incubators. They observe the first stage … place 8 duck eggs in an incubator for 28 days … place 30 chicken eggs in a separate incubator for 21 days. Temperature (up to 100 degrees) and humidity (up to 50%) are monitored and controlled. Then … little fngers crossed for a successful hatching!!
