πŸŽ‰ Our First Program Town Hall of the fall semester! πŸŽ‰

What a great time bringing together OT students from our first and second cohorts for our Program Town Hall!

Students came together to hear important program updates, connect across cohorts, and share in the excitement of our growing OT community. We wrapped things up with an OT-inspired Family Feud that brought plenty of teamwork, laughter, and friendly competition! πŸ§ πŸ™Œ

We’re so proud of the community our students are building together and excited for all that’s ahead. πŸ’šπŸ€

During the Assistive Technology class, students participated in an interactive activity designed to assist individuals with low vision or blindness. Through guided exploration, students engaged with a variety of technologies, including electronic magnification systems, communication and information-access devices, and mobility and navigation technologies. πŸ€“πŸ”Ž

Students also explored wearable technology by using Meta AI glasses to take photos during the activity. The experience provided opportunities to examine device features, practice using unfamiliar technologies, and consider how different solutions may support independence, accessibility, and participation in meaningful occupations. πŸ’š

So incredibly proud of our students!! πŸ’šπŸ€

A huge THANK YOU to the Slippery Rock University Doctorate of Occupational Therapy students for spending completing their fieldwork experience with us at The Lighthouse Foundation's Transitional Housing program! πŸŒŸπŸ’š
Over the last eight weeks, these students have invested their time, knowledge, and compassion into the lives of our residents. They worked alongside them on job readiness, nutrition, education, daily living skills, and other life skills that build confidence and promote long-term independence.
Your willingness to serve, encourage, and walk alongside our residents has made a real difference. Thank you for sharing your talents and helping empower those in our program toward self sufficiency as they continue their recovery and work toward a brighter future.
We are grateful for our partnership with Slippery Rock University and look forward to working with future OT students! πŸ’š

🌟 Butler Eagle Spotlight 🌟

Our students recently partnered with the Slippery Rock Senior Center to lead engaging activities designed to promote movement, balance, strength, and social connection for older adults.

These sessions created various opportunities to support healthy aging, foster meaningful relationships, and help seniors maintain the skills that allow them to continue doing the activities that matter most to them.

This experience also gives our students valuable hands-on learning as they apply occupational therapy principles in real-world community settings, preparing them to become compassionate, evidence-based practitioners.

Thank you to the Slippery Rock Senior Center, our faculty, and everyone who participated in making this partnership such a success. We are proud of our students for their dedication to serving the community while promoting health, independence, and quality of life.

πŸ’šπŸ€ Go Rock!
