Congratulations to Valarie Ellsworth, Harrisonville High School communications arts instructor, who was selected to receive Osage Valley Electric Cooperative’s Influential Educator Award. In addition to the award, she received a $250 gift card.
Mrs. Ellsworth was nominated by Harrisonville High School junior Case Melzer. Case was selected as one of four finalists in the Osage Valley Youth Tour Essay Contest and will attend the Washington DC Youth Tour in June. Each finalist was asked to the name the educator with the most impact on their educational journey.
The Osage Valley Youth Tour Essay Contest program consists of an essay and interview. The contest not only provides four finalists with a trip to Washington DC or Jefferson City but also strives to build character, confidence, and compassion through the experiences and speakers on the trip. These students are the leaders of tomorrow and Osage Valley wants to acknowledge the educators that encouraged them along the way.
Last week, Key Club and SADD members took a service field trip during which they volunteered at Harvesters & dropped off 50 children activities bags at Ronald McDonald House. They ended the day having fun at Top Golf.
