Today, four of our students - Koley Helm, Duncan Boyd, Emily Munoz Evans, & Michaela Becker - attended the FFA Public Speaking Institute in Columbia! They had the opportunity to sharpen their communication skills, build confidence in public speaking, and learn to inspire others through the powerful use of words thanks to Andrew McCrea and the State FFA Officers!

We’re so proud of their dedication to growing as leaders in agriculture and beyond! We hope the skills they gained will shine as they compete this spring and beyond in speaking contests!

This is our 5th year of doing this project with Bright Futures! We enjoy helping our community!

The Cass Career Center FFA Chapter and Wal-Center 4-H Club of Harrisonville received a grant from Missouri Farmers Care to purchase fresh fruit during the winter months for the Bright Futures Harrisonville food assistance program. On January 14th, FFA members Carly Taylor, MaKala Sule, Emmitt Enderle, and Tanner Chapman delivered bags of clementine oranges and apples to Station 42.

Thank you, Mr. Foster, for your donation to the Cass Career Center FFA Chapter!

Thank you John Foster for donating a copy of his book: Lookin' Back as Remember by John Foster about the history of Harrisonville. Mr. Foster is an original signer of the Cass Career Center (Harrisonville) FFA Charter in 1949. In the book, Mr. Foster references the impact FFA had on his life. The book, numbered #49 is in reference to the founding of our FFA Chapter in 1949. Accepting the book are FFA Secretary, Audri Craig, Historian Taylor Kanoy, and Parliamentarian Jackson Alvarez, who is holding the original FFA Charter from 1949 with Mr. Foster's name on it. In addition, Mr. Foster's FFA jacket is displayed in a case at the Cass Career Center. Thank you for your continued support of our program and students, Mr. Foster!

Ag Science 1 Field Trip Highlights!

Our Ag Science 1 students had an incredible time exploring some amazing local businesses during our field trip Tuesday! A huge thank you to the wonderful teams at Heritage Tractor, Midwest Lumber, and Red Barn Ranch for showing us the ins and outs of your operations!

Heritage Tractor: We got a close-up look at what sets John Deere apart from its competitors, from the sales floor to the parts warehouse, and service shop students got a first hand look at the technology and equipment that helps keep agriculture running smoothly.

Midwest Lumber: Our students learned all about how this company produces roof trusses and floors for the construction of various structures all over the region. Students even got to test their knowledge for some swag at the conclusion of the tour.

Red Barn Ranch: Matt Moreland provided a great overview of what goes into starting a business like Red Barn Ranch. Students learned the history of the business and were inspired to try new things. (not pictured - students enjoying the activities at Red Barn Ranch)

This trip truly brought our lessons to life, showing how diverse and interconnected the world of agriculture is. Thank you to everyone who made this day unforgettable for our students!

Our Ag Science 1 students who ordered FFA Jackets have officially received them, marking the beginning of their journey in agricultural leadership and education. These jackets symbolize hard work, dedication, and pride in being part of the FFA family.

We couldn’t be prouder of these students as they take their first steps toward growing as leaders, building lifelong skills, and embracing the FFA motto: Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve.

We look forward to these students future in the agriculture program and FFA!

Just in time for the holiday season, Mr. Shurvington’s Landscape Class had the incredible opportunity to visit a nearby Christmas tree farm today! Students gained hands-on insights into the art and science of growing these iconic holiday trees.

From sustainable farming techniques and tree care to harvesting and planning for a unique business like this, the tour offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the dedication and expertise that make the season so special for everyone who visits the farm.

A huge thank you to Mike Haffner at Pumpkins and Pines for welcoming us and sharing your knowledge of Christmas tree farming!

Be sure to visit them later this month as they open for their final season!
