Students in our Ag Welding & Fabrication class have been in the shop for the past couple of weeks, learning the fundamentals of welding and putting those skills into practice! Students are working to strengthen their understanding of welding techniques, build confidence in welding applications, and perfect their welds as they continue developing their skills. We’re excited to see their progress as they continue learning and preparing to take on new projects throughout the year!

Thank you to Mr. Phillip Duncan of the Midwest Beekeepers for presenting to the Animal & Plant Science students on Tuesday, October 6th, on the importance of honey bees. Mr. Duncan, a retired Harrisonville High School Chemistry and Physics Teacher, taught the students about bee biology, beekeeping equipment, and opportunities to make honey bees a project for students at home. Students also had the opportunity to taste honey made from different flowering plants.

FFA members held a Petting Zoo during the Harrisonville Log Cabin Festival on Saturday, October 3rd. Members brought a heifer, a horse, goats, ducks, chickens, rabbits, and kittens for kids to pet throughout the day. We also had the tractor for kids to climb into.

Thank you to all the FFA members who brought animals and helped work the Petting Zoo! It was a great day.

FFA members volunteered to help set up for the Harrisonville Log Cabin Festival during class on Friday, October 2nd. Members helped with check-in, set up tents, chairs, and tables, and hung signs around the square. The Cass Career Center FFA will have a Petting Zoo on Saturday, October 3rd from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the corner of Wall St. and Wirt St. It is free and open to anyone.

Thank you to Koch Stigge Veterinary Clinic and Zoetis for your support of our FFA Chapter!

Thank you, Koch-Stigge Veterinary Clinic, for your support of the Cass Career Center FFA Chapter. Representing Koch-Stigge is Dr. Samantha Rushly, who presents a check from Zoetis, a major supplier of veterinary products. Koch-Stigge partnered with Zoetis to provide funds for our FFA Chapter. Accepting the donation is FFA President Tucker Rushly and Reporter Taylor Kanoy.

Students in the Veterinary Science class are practicing taking vital signs on rabbits, cats, and goats during class this week. Thank you to Craig Zwahlen for the rabbits, the Gooch Family for the goats, and Hawley Farms for the donation of the livestock scale.

Our students in our Advanced Plant Science course are so excited to research and plant flowers at Where the Wildflowers Bloom this year. Thank you, Angie Rhodes, for the tour today and the opportunity.

What a fun morning with these students from Cass Carer Center FFA that will be planting a research area on our farm! A big thank you to Jason Dieckhoff for teaching and supporting these kids in their agriculture experience! We can't wait to see what they will grow!

Our Trap Team competed at the State Fall Classic Trapshoot in Linn Creek on Saturday, September 26th. Those competing were Jaxon Ayers, Evan Wright (who was our high shooter with an 88/100), Clayton Wood, and Trent Sumner.
