Exciting News for Cass Career Center Agriculture Students -

The Gardner Family Educational Fund has been established to honor Mr. Stanley Gardner, Ag Teacher at the Cass Career Center from 1967-1986. This fund will be used to help Agriculture students start or expand their Supervised Ag Experience (SAE) projects. $5,000 of funds will be available each year for students. As students invest in developing and growing their SAE, the hope is the funds will be replenished, interest-free.

Students interested in applying for these funds should contact Mr. Dieckhoff or Mrs. Snyder for an application. Applications will be due February 1st each year. Funds will be distributed in mid-to-late March.

Our last DECA week shout out goes to two of our programs biggest supporters, Sheridan Lounsbery & Milton Genge. Sheridan works at CCC & Milton taught Marketing at CCC for 30 years. These two individuals volunteer numerous hours helping to get our students prepared for competition. Our program couldn't be what it is without these two. Thank you so much, Mrs. Sheridan & Mr. Genge!

Preston Baker is a senior at CCC & is DECA's President of Finance. After high school, Preston plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University, where he plans to major in Horticulture. "I enjoy DECA because I get to meet so many new & interesting people." Preston's favorite DECA memory was spending time at Crown Center after competing at State competition.

Audrey Coffey is a junior at CCC & is DECA's President of Competition. Audrey qualified for International competition as a first-year DECA member. Audrey plans to attend a 4-year university and will be pursuing Marketing. "I enjoy DECA because of the confidence it has helped me gain and the public speaking skills I’ve learned during roleplays at competitions." Audrey's favorite DECA memory was watching the hypnotist show at DECA State.

Today we will be highlighting our DECA President of Marketing, Emma Coffey. Emma is a junior in the Marketing department. When she graduates, she plans on getting an Associates Degree, focusing on business so that someday, she can own her own salon. Emma's favorite thing about DECA is, "the impact it makes on your life overall. DECA can change people in many ways, both professionally & socially. For me, DECA is all about family and I love getting myself involved in it and getting our chapter involved in so many new ways!" Emma's favorite DECA memory is, "waiting for keys at State competition. I loved it because I got to spend time with the best advisor & with my best friend, Audrey."

Happy DECA Week! This week, we will be featuring each of our DECA officers. Miranda Fisher is a senior at Cass Career Center & our President of Community Service. When asked why Miranda loves her organization, she says, "I love all of the networking events that DECA provides & being able to meet so many people." Miranda's favorite DECA memory is competing at State two years in a row with her best friend. After Miranda graduates, she will be attending Missouri Southern, majoring in Nursing so that she can be a Labor & Delivery nurse.

Cass Career Center Agriculture students toured Louisburg Cider Mill, Hillsdale Lake Army Corp of Engineers, and MO-KAN Livestock Auction for their Fall Field Trip. Students learned about apple processing, food safety, water management, natural resources, and livestock marketing during these tours.

Congratulations to Case Melzer for winning 1st in the Area Young Farmer & Young Farm Wives Speech contest and Taylor Kanoy for placing 4th in the Area Cattlemen’s Speech contest. These contests were held Thursday, November 9th at Osceola High School. Case will advance to districts next Wednesday at State Fair Community College.

The Cass Career Center FFA Chapter had a successful 96th National FFA Convention, November 1-4th in Indianapolis, IN.

* George Frees was named the American Star in Agriscience - one of the top 4 awards the National FFA awards
* Case Melzer earned a Silver Rating for the Dairy Handlers Contest.
* Dr. Karl Frees & Mrs. Laura Frees were awarded the Honorary American FFA Degrees
* George Frees, Laine Schmalzried, and Ella Shelton were awarded the American FFA Degree
* Additional students attending included: Preston Baker, Kristin Baumgardner, Emmitt Enderle, Dayton Hoffman, Addi Shepherd, Mary Starforth, Ethan Stone, Lezlie Wade, and Ryley Wood.
* Students listened to many sessions and heard from a variety of speakers including US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack.
* Students toured Mid-American Moterworks, Total Crop Production, and Stuckey Orchards.
* Students attended a PRCA Rodeo on Thursday night.

Located in Harrisonville, MO, CCC is noted for producing winners in district, state and national skills contests in all program areas. Graduates are successful business executives, business owners and craftsmen working in many fields in the United States. The PN program at CCC is outstanding with a State Board exam pass rate of 100%. The Cass Career Center also offers Community Education classes for adult students in areas such as technology, trade and technical, health, enrichment, and recreational.
