Join us at The Arts at 131 W. Grace St. on September 1 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. for a casual Art & Health Gathering with guest speaker Pato Hebert, NYU Professor of Art & Public Policy, who will briefly introduce his work on long-haul COVID, AIDS prevention, and other health-related issues through art. The program includes additional brief lightning talks, refreshments, and opportunities for networking. RSVP required (see bio for link); space is limited to 50 guests.
As part of his campus residency, artist and educator Pato Hebert will present a series of public events exploring the intersections of art, health, and collective care. His exhibition, Sick Days, opens in the Duke Hall Gallery of Fine Art on September 8 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a bring-your-own-white-T-shirt printing at 5:00 p.m. and an artist talk at 6:00 p.m. Hebert will also deliver the Dorothy Liskey Wampler Distinguished Professor of Art Lecture, Collective Wellness, on September 10 at 6:00 p.m. in the Duke Hall Gallery Court. These events are supported by a JMU College of Visual and Performing Arts Inclusive Excellence Cultural Connections Project Award and the Dorothy Liskey Wampler Distinguished Professorship of Art Award.
