To wrap up National Picnic Month, let’s talk about building a balanced and colorful picnic spread! Eating outdoors can make meals feel more enjoyable and mindful, so why not make your plate both fun and nourishing?

Try building your picnic plate with: Fruits and vegetables for vitamins and hydration; whole grains like wraps, crackers, or pasta salad; protein options such as grilled chicken, hummus, beans, cheese, or nuts; and hydrating beverages like water or infused water.

Aim for variety, color, and balance to keep your energy up while you enjoy the sunshine. Picnics are a great reminder that healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated; it can be simple, delicious, and shared with others.

National Picnic Month Challenge: Move Before You Munch!

This week, take your picnic to the next level by adding a little movement before you dig in. Turning your picnic into an active outing is a fun way to boost your energy, enjoy the outdoors, and make lasting memories.

Before unpacking your basket, try: A frisbee toss or catch, a short nature walk around the park, a quick game of volleyball or soccer, or a gentle stretching or yoga in the sun.

Physical activity doesn’t have to be intense to be meaningful. A little movement paired with nourishing snacks creates the perfect balance for your body and mind.

This July, we’ve been sharing weekly sun safety tips. Our final sun safety post focuses on heat-related illnesses and knowing the warning signs.

Spending time in hot weather can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses. Signs of heat exhaustion include dizziness, headache, nausea, and heavy sweating, while heat stroke is more severe and may cause confusion, very high body temperature, and hot, dry skin. If symptoms occur, move to a cooler place, hydrate, and seek medical help if they don’t improve. Recognizing these warning signs early can help prevent serious health risks 💙💚

This July, we’re sharing weekly sun safety tips. Today's focus: UV Index & Peak Sun Hours

The UV Index is a tool that measures the strength of ultraviolet radiation from the sun and helps indicate the risk of skin and eye damage. UV levels are typically highest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., making sun protection especially important during these hours. When the UV Index reaches 3 or higher, protective measures such as sunscreen, shade, and protective clothing are recommended. Checking the UV Index and planning outdoor activities accordingly can help reduce harmful sun exposure and support long-term health.

This month, we’re sharing weekly sun safety tips. Today’s focus: Protective Clothing Matters! ️

Covering up is an easy way to reduce sun exposure! Wearing long-sleeved shirts, pants, and tightly woven fabrics helps block harmful UV rays. Wide-brimmed hats protect your face, ears, and neck, while sunglasses that block 100% of UVA and UVB rays help protect your eyes. Simple choices like these can help prevent sunburn and long-term skin damage while enjoying time outside. 💙💚

This month, we’re sharing weekly sun safety tips. Today’s focus: Staying hydrated!

Staying hydrated is key during warm weather! Drinking water regularly helps regulate body temperature, supports physical performance, and helps prevent fatigue, headaches, and heat-related illnesses. Since your body loses more fluids through sweat, it’s important to drink water throughout the day- not just when you feel thirsty. Staying hydrated is a simple way to keep your body feeling its best during summer activities. 💙💚

This July, we’re sharing weekly sun safety tips- stay tuned to keep your skin protected all summer long!

Spending time outside is one of the best parts of summer, but protecting your skin is just as important! Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to protect against both UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays. Don’t forget to apply generously and reapply every two hours, especially when you’re outside. A simple habit like wearing sunscreen can help prevent skin damage and lower your risk of skin cancer over time. 💙💚

Community Outdoors Week: Connect & Recharge

To wrap up National Outdoors Month, let’s focus on connection. Outdoor spaces give us opportunities to move, talk, laugh, and recharge together. Spending time outside with others has been associated with improved well-being and greater life satisfaction.

Try planning: a picnic with friends, a group walk , a casual outdoor game, or a sunset hangout. Wellness is better when it’s shared. Invite someone to join you outside this week!

Nature Break Week: Reset Your Mind

Feeling overwhelmed? Step outside. Studies show that even short nature breaks can reduce stress hormones and improve attention and cognitive performance. Try adding a quick “nature reset” to your day:

20 minutes outside without your phone
Read or study in a green space
Take a quiet walk to clear your head
Practice deep breathing outdoors

Sometimes your brain doesn’t need more screen time, it needs fresh air.
