Happy birthday 🎊 to TWO legacy alums, Rene Hostetter '03, '08 (Eastern Mennonite Seminary) and Angie (Longenecker) Strite '02. Rene's father Darrel is a '77 EMU grad and '82 EMS grad and her mother Sherrill is '78 EMU grad and 2000 EMS grad.

to 1993, when two forward-thinking and philanthropic EMU alums saw a student need at their alma mater and decided to address that need with creativity and generosity. They chose to invest in the lives of 5-7 new undergrads every year, and eventually 30-40 new undergrads every year, by establishing the university's very first Honors Endowed Scholarship (with a seven-figure gift) to launch the Honors Program! In 2026, professor of history Dr. Mark Sawin leads our distinctive Honors Program. Encourage high-achieving high school students in your networks to learn more! Honors alumni, we invite you to contribute what you are able to the Honors Endowed Scholarship, to collectively increase its year-by-year impact in students' lives!

It's getting closer -- students like you are getting ready to find their ROAR at EMU!
Attend one of our Virginia Private College Week sessions and you'll be entered into a raffle for a $100 gift card!
Events will include information sessions covering academics, financial aid, and the admissions process. Each visit runs for an hour and a half and will include light refreshments. Here are your options:
Monday-Friday (7/20-7/24): 9 am or 2 pm sessions
Saturday (7/25): 10:00 or 11:30 am sessions
