Shawn Ramer ’83, EMU’s chief operating officer and vice president of finance, recently gave to Royal Women for EMU in honor of his great-aunt, Mary Emma Showalter Eby. Keep reading to learn more about this amazing woman! ⤵️

Shawn shares: "I’m delighted to recognize my great-aunt, Mary Emma Showalter Eby. I knew her first on our summer visits to the Valley where, as a growing boy, I experienced her smile, good nature, and excellent food preparation. As I grew I realized she was the hands, heart and soul behind the Mennonite Community Cookbook. Only later in life did I fully realize her impact in being a pioneer among Mennonite women in obtaining her advanced education and becoming a professor at Eastern Mennonite University. Aunt Em was truly a Royal Woman in the history of Eastern Mennonite University.”
